I've just been researching homeopathy quite a bit lately (I'm a beginner in this field), and loved that article in the mothering magazine about the boy healed of Autism through homeopathy. I am about to spend $60 - $100 on a kit to start treating myself and my family...but was interested to hear some healing stories using homeopathy, and also what remedies are indispensible to a kit.<br><br>
My husband and I may be moving to Guatemala for a few months with our 21 month old ds, and was interested in specific remedies that may be good for travel to developing countries.<br><br>

My oldest dd is a special needs child and we have had a lot of success using homeopathy with her.From helping her hyperactivity to her negative outlook to her frequent potty accidents.I have been using homeopathy for 9 years with all my 4 kids and have never looked back.Things i have treated with just herbs and homeopathy~thrush,croup,fevers,teething issues,flu,morning sickness,trouble sleeping,colds,mastitis,bad attitudes,seperation issues...the list goes on.One thing that i found works the best for finding the right remedy is using muscle testing.I choose a few remedies that i think will work and then i hold it in my hand and test the arm resistance.Look up kinseology for more info.Also if a remedy doesn't work within a day i switch to a different one.I just got the book ritalin free and it has homeopathic remedies for ADD/autistic kids and it has some great ideas in it.Good luck!

Well one thing everyone will tell you works is homeopathic teething globules. We use the Hylands.<br><br>
And my grandson has a planters wart on his foot for about 2 years, it kept getting bigger and bigger...thuja took care of it. I could not believe it. Although it took about 2 vials of thuja. But we can not even 'see' what it had been. I thought he tricked me by showing me the wrong foot, but that was not the case.<br><br>
We also use a lot of herbal remedies. dd swears by Pulsatilla for cough and croup.

Well, I was a big skeptic, but have had some success. I have discovered that you have to be very specific or it won't work. Like taking something for a cough isn't good enough, you need to know all the other symptoms, moods, sleep patterns, etc. to get a really good fit.<br><br>
Our first big success: My daughter had a bad, bad case of the hives (we think in reaction to the chicken pox vaccine) which kept getting worse for weeks. She was on tons of prednisone and some other meds, but wasn't getting any better. Finally, we bought some hylands "hives" out of desperation and by the next morning, they were gone!!! Absolutely amazing, I have pictures to prove it.<br><br>
Also, I have seen success with pregnancy/labor. I don't feel like I know much in the homeopathic area, but I am still learning. I work with a ND who knows tons, so I really rely on her expertise.

We are just beginning our journey and keep building our stash! I'm not sure if you have any books, but I'm liking The Family Guide to Homeopathy, Everybody's Guide to Homeopathy, and Prescription for Natural Cures. I cross-reference them, because like a pp said, you often need to know more than just "I have a cough."<br><br>
In terms of success, Hyland's makes some great homeopathic remedies for kids - I just started using <i>Calms Forte 4 Kids</i> and it helped tremendously get my two unwilling to sleep boys to calm down and go to sleep. We also like the teething tabs. My dh took <i>Oscillo</i> for two days when he was getting the flu, and was fine by the end of day two (and this way after spending the first night with chills and a fever - we started the <i>Oscillo</i> the next morning and it worked great). I take <i>Coffea Crudum</i> for restless leg syndrome - it gets really bad when I'm pregnant, and I take it about 5 minutes before laying down and have no problems at all. Right now I'm working on <i>Rhus. Tox</i> and <i>Hepar Sulph</i>. for cold sores. Oh, and not homeopathic, but elderberry syrup is also awesome for coughs - it is an antiviral.

My almost 6 y.o. dd was still wetting very heavily at night until homepathic treatment dried it right up (I wish I had sought help much sooner). The same dd has also never had the flu for more than 6 hours because that is how quickly Oscillo works for her. It's almost unbelievable how quickly it works - she goes from lying on the couch completely lethargic, only moving to throw up, to jumping off the couch and running to the kitchen famished about 1 minute after I give her the last dose.<br><br>
I developed severe gluten intolerance after the birth of dd2 and I am now happily eating whatever I want again thanks to my homeopath. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> I just love that woman!<br><br>
I also induced my labor with a homeopathic (was overdue and nervous that I would miss out on a homebirth if I went over my midwife's cutoff).

I'm still new to homeopathy too but my best experience so far has been with arnica, both the pellets and the gel. I pushed myself on the treadmill too hard one day and really hurt my achilles tendon, bad enough that I could hardly walk on that foot and the spot bruised almost right away. I didn't think till that night to try homeopathy for it so I started taking arnica pellets and putting the gel on the bruised area and it was completely fine by the next morning.

I don't know much about homeopathy, but believe it has great merit after it (phyltolacca) instantly cured me of awful reoccuring mastitis. also watching how quickly the kids responded to teething tablets, and how well my brother-in-law treated his horses with it for snow-blindness and hay allergies. I'm slowly learning more..

wow... I had restless leg pretty bad when I was pregnant, and it's great to hear there's a cure for it... other than just doing 1,000 calf raises! It would get so bad I found it hard to sleep! Anyway, great to read about all of your success stories surrounding homeopathic cures... dd has her first cough and I'm ready to get some elderberry syrup. Any idea whether you can give this to 7 month olds?
