Does anyone know of a good alternative to Tylenol/Advil, etc. for pain relief? I really don't want to use the above type medicines anymore. Any homeopathic ideas? I don't need to use a pain reliever often but when she's teething bad or not feeling well which isn't often it would be nice to have a more natural remedy to help with her pain. Thanks!!

If it's a teething issue, my family always used clove oil (it works great!). And other than seeing a massage therapist or chiropractor, I don't know about a natural pain reliever. Sorry! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/confused.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Confused">:

Do you rub the clove oil on the gums or what? Excuse my ignorance on this subject. Like I said, I'm just now looking into homeopathy. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I believe clove oil needs to be diluted in a carrier oil to apply. I used chamomilla homeopathic pellets. Others use Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets. My girlfriend used lavender essential oil. The thing about oils, etc. is that the saliva washes it out pretty quickly.

We just applied straight clove oil on the gum with a cotton swab.

I am in Canada so I don't know if this is available for the US but I use a homeopathic remedy for babies called Camilia. It has camomile and other ingredients and it works wonders! It comes in 30 1 ml dosages. I have also used Consolin and Hyland's teething gel. A great tip is to get one of those rubber tooth brushes, the ones you put on your finger and put the Hylands gel on like toothpaste then brush babies teeth. my DD loves this and it really helps with the teething (and gets them used to oral hygiene!). HTH!
