My ds (24 mos) and I both have this terrible cold, runny nose, hacking cough... I wouldn't be so concerned, but last night, ds was so clogged up with mucous that he was having trouble catching his breath . I got him to sleep on his side, and he didn't seem to have anymore episodes like that, but I think I'll take him to the doc today just to find out what kind of infection it is. Anyways, I'd really appreciate some homeopathic suggestions as an alternative to tylenol or antibiotics or whatever is prescribed. TIA.

Sorry that you are both sick
The thing with homeopathic remedies is that they are given for the specific symptoms. It would be a good idea to invest in a book that could guide you. I have a book by Dana Ullman, "Homeopathic Medicine for Children and Infants".

Regardless of what "kind" of virus it is, you could give him Vitamin C in the form of Sodium Ascorbate. It can knock out a virus, and you can't OD on it, although it can also cause diarrhea, so gradual increases is advised. It comes in powder form and 1/2 tsp is 1790 mg. So you could give him a pinch (250 mg) every hour.

Remember to keep the mucus loose and running with warm liquids, steamy baths and showers, moist air.

Hope you feel better soon.
