My oldest will be 4 soon and off to preschool. I'm thinking about homeschooling but honestly have no idea how it works or where to go to find out. A friend in Alabama said they have a wonderful homeschooling program where she lives. You pay $300 a year and can send the kids to subjects you don't/can't teach (math, science, whatever). Then you teach the rest. Is there anything like that around here?

there's a yahoo group called south shore home learners. Many members have children pre-school age.
Not sure if there's also one on the cape, but I'm sure they would know.

There's a couple of Yahoo groups that may help you with any questions you have. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CapeCodHomeschoolers/ is one, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/coastalfreelearners/ is the other.
