What do people feel about homeschooling one child? My dh has said if I want I can homeschool our son who is due to start school Sep 09. My dd aged 9 is now in school (her choice) so going to homeschool meets will be limited as we will have to do school pick ups. The local homeschool community is 40 mins away and there are at least 2 activities a week that we could join in. We live in a little village so it is harder for ds to make friends as this tends to be done in school. Would one child be isolated?

Wouldn't this depend a lot on the personality of the child ?

I hs 2 and have one in school this year; it does limit our outings, but not annoyingly so. Then again, we don't live in a small village... But if you can go twice a week to a hs'ing event, that would be *plenty* for us.

hth!

I happily homeschool my only child and it works well for us. Being a part of a homeschool group has been very important for us. Over time, as you and your child make homeschooling friends that you can have get-togethers with, you'll need the structure of a group less. I think it's probably easier to homeschool one--since you only have to work at one child's level. The extra challenge is just to teach your child to entertain themselves and to make sure they have opportunities to play with other kids more often.
