Hi...My name is Laura.I'm new to this forum and homeschooling.
I am in the process of being Dx'ed with ms.I'm determined to homeschool my two girls ages 8 and 10.
I'm wondering if anyone here is homeschooling with a chronic illness? If so ,could they please let me know if there are any websites that could be of help?..or any advice..

Thank you so much...Laura

Hi Lara,
Have you searched on yahoogroups?
I thought there was a group there for parents with chronic illnesses who homeschool, but I can't seem to find it right now. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms. I hope you can find support.

Hi Laura, I have MS and I homeschool my 6.5 yo dd. I would love to talk to you some. Getting the dx is really hard on both you and your kids. I had to drop alot of my waldorfy intentions and find a homeschooling approach that I think will work for us, I'm not completely unschoooling- but definitely some. At least your kids (and my daughter) are old enough to understand that we are sick and if you suddenly need to take a nap they can take care of themselves. The dx time is really a time of recognizing when you need to take care of yourselves on a scale that other mama's won't understand, but you can do it. Remember, for most people MS is relapse remission and you may have horrible symptoms for a while, but they will go away so you just may do alot when your able and not do very much when you're down.
