We've decided to homeshool our 4 and 8 year old this year. We are doctoral students at Columbia U in the Art Education program. We are looking for other homeschoolers in the area to network resources with. If anyone is interested or has any connections or ideas for homeschooling in the area please email Amy at [email protected] or Mark at [email protected].

Thanks

Hi, Amy & Mark, welcome to MDC ...

I'm on the Upper West Side, and DH knocked down the HS'g for one more year () but ... can tell you that at virtually every NYC public library on the UWS we've run into homeschooling groups, almost every day of the week.

Contact NYCHEA (NYC Home Educators Alliance), they're in the East Village, but every HS'r I've met in the area says they're a member, so you should be able to make contacts through them ... in theory, anyway ...

Good luck ...

I moved from that area a few years ago. I know there are a bunch of homeschoolers there. At least one of the current Upper West Side LLL leaders lives in Columbia housing and homeschools. She organizes (or at least used to organize) a weekly homeschooling picnic on the campus. PM me and I'll send you her name.

Oh, and I second the suggestion of contacting NYCHEA. If you join, they will send you their newsletter, which lists events happening around the city, and a list of all NYCHEA members who agree to be listed.
