For any mamas who shop at Publix, there's more of a reason to support them-they are no longer buying products from a local (FL) grower who knowingly violates pesticide laws!! Those violations may be the reason that female migrant farm workers from Latin America are giving birth to severely deformed children.

Be forewarned: the stories are heartbreaking as are the photos.

Doesn't anyone get it {except those of us whom eat/care about organic} ??

I Would love love LOVE to see someone do a commerical about organics, not that sappy "oh its best for you and baby" crap....

I wan't to see a professional commercial done similar to egg in the frying pan / brain on drugs ones. "This is your food" , beautiful gathering of fruits veggies grains....

{show quick jaunt through processing process...}

with graphics of vitamins constantly jumping out of the foods for the duration of the spot....

this is your food on pesticides >>
show food with chemicals, liquids and powders in realistic proportions pouring out of the container being dumped on the food, And then wrap it up in shrink wrap, and show it shipping to a store and sitting on the shelf,

Show time lapse of months going by: by showing lights going on and off, and people walking by, and then someone taking it home and eating it....

Lights diming from the start to the dark finish at the end.

anyone know someone who could do this?

Mothering: want to organize a fund raiser to raise funds that you match to pay for this?

No problem Annabelle! I was just so glad to hear that a mainstream chain (other than Whole Foods) is doing stuff like this! I like Publix, too. Our local store has the best employees (they love ds) and they have a great variety of products. I'm glad that they are taking steps to show these mega-farms that they need to change their ways. I haven't picked up a pack of Santa Sweets since reading this article, but sadly the farms in that area that are the big violators operate and package under hundreds of different names. Thankfully we have a wonderful little farmers market close by!

I really like Publix as well! I am glad that they are aware and doing something. One of my bestfriends enrolled me in Publix's baby club filled out all the info for me and surprise surprise when I got all these coupons in the mail and a really awesome book from the american academy of pediatrics.
( from birth - 5 years old) I think it was a very thoughtful thing to do.
