So many of you know that I'm moving to Hawaii soon (around July 31st). We'll be living very close to Dan's grandmother. While she's supportive of cloth diapering she's against polyesther (like I know how to spell that! :LOL ) - think PUL. I haven't even told her that PUL exists and is part of AIO's.. she was just was just happy to see Nathan wasn't in poly when I showed her his wool and fitteds last month (she lives in Florida and we visited her).

Soo.. here I am with 2 FCB AIO's, 4 Darling Diaper AIO's, 2 Lucy's Hope Chest, 1 MudpieBabies side applix, 1 Harleyz Pocket and 1 Disposanot trying to figure out what to do.

In Hawaii the temperature, according to re-caps for the past few years, doesn't get below 65 (as a low).. period, any time of the year. In Seattle it only gets above 65 two months of the year on average! :LOL In Hawaii the average temperature throughout the year is 75-85.

So here's my delima - I have the opportunity to buy another FCB AIO that I've been drooling over (just a beautiful color) but I'm afraid I won't use it either because of the warm weather or because of Dan's grandmother's oppinions (and I feel rightful oppinions for the most part).

Do I get it or pass? Do I sell my other PUL items? What would you do? If you live in a semi-tropical area like Hawaii, what are you doing?

You want to sell your pul to me.... (says in a hypnotic voice...)

In all seriousness, if you love the dipees, keep 'em. If the weather proves to be a problem - sell 'em (they will go fast for sure!) And Dan's mom won't see his dipes all the time so you can use the PUL when Nathan won't be around her if the weather is okay.

OR... just sell 'em (like to me - hee hee) and its a great excuse to buy more hemp/cotton etc... and wool.

ETA - perhaps you could PM SAHMinhawaii (or whatever her screen name is)

Oh you have a date now for your move . We're going to miss you! But what an opportunity!

If we were to move to a hot climate I would sell all of our PUL. The only reason I have PUL is for DH *(If it were his way we'd only use FCB AIO's).....

Hope some Momma's of the tropics have some good advice....(I'm sure they do)........

Don't mama's in HI just go coverless, or let their babes run around on the beach naked? ahh...paradise!

I live in FL, and we use it all. Now I use PUL at the beach because it rinses off well. Wool at night because it keeps her cool. Fleece covers and wool soakers out and about because I love to show off her bum.

Otherwise we are naked (well she is.lol) or in a lone hemp fitted.

We live in AZ which while it isnt tropical its just about as hot a the surface of the sun! It doesnt get much below 50 even in the winter (except at night). Having said all that, we use a lot of pul because Maxi is in only Wonderoos and AW AIOs at preschool all day. Other than that we dont really use it. I have a few Bummis SWWs but dont really ever use them unless I am washing wool and fleece. But then I guess fleece is synthetic too (though breathable).

I say dont buy the one you are looking at but dont sell your others just yet. Does his GM know that there is pul in there? Do you have to tell her? I dont mean lie, just not mention it?

Once you get there see if you use them and if then then sell them. I am betting if these are diapers you love you will use them. The Wonderoos are a bit warmer than fitteds and fleece/wool but not enough to cause a rash or make Maxi seem uncomfortable.

Good luck!

Wow Jenn, you're moving to Hawaii?! Take me with you!!!! :LOL

I can't offer any advice regarding PUL in tropical conditions (I'm in Michigan), but I wouldn't sell off all your AIO's if they work well for you.

I hope someone here can offer some good advice.

Good luck with the move you lucky duck (can you tell I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hawaii?)

Well, hmm.. even now I use my PUL sparingly because I don't like to have him in it. Even on a midly warm day (60-70) he feels sweaty in it. I used to love it for onesies and tight clothes but now I have waterproof wool (like my FCB size 1 heavy weight wool cover). The shipping from Hawaii will be more than it would be here so that's something to factor in.

Oh what to do!!! Ok, I'll pass on the FCB I've been eyeing though, thank you for that advice!

And I don't have to tell her it's PUL but what in the world should I say it is? Space Engineered cotton?! :LOL

First: T Polly Esthers! LOL! Have you been to that club by Seattle Center? I was there a couple of years ago. Fun!

Ok back on topic: I'm in So. California and no it's not tropical, but it can get warm and humid. I use PUL occasionaly and when I do I don't let Josh sit in it for very long- I'll usually change him sooner if he's in PUL. You still have over one month to enjoy the FCB before you have to move so I say go for it! And if you find you don't use it then sell it. You could sell it for what you paid for it or even $1 less- yea postage may be a bit higher, but look at it as a small rental fee

Oh my gosh you are moving to Hawaii? Where in Hawaii? I was born there and have spent approximately half of my life there. I miss it so.... I'm excited! JennInHawaii, I'm going to visit you next time I'm there visiting my dad, stepmother, half-bro,and half-sis! They live in Waikiki, so if you are anywhere on Oahu (and I hope so--you'll die of boredom otherwise), I will find you. Mwahahahahahah

Anyway, it doesn't get hot in Hawaii, no worries. But sell your PUL anyway, I say, because you are a wool Hyena and only a wool Hyena, just go ahead and admit it. Remember, there are only SO MANY DIAPER CHANGES before Nathan potty trains, and do you want to waste them on PUL when you could be using a gorgeous soaker? Hawaii is the perfect place to have him in just a shirt and a nice soaker, no matter where you are (most babes are in just a diaper there--all the pics of me as a baby are in just a diaper or naked!).

Yes, but only for my honeymoon (4 yrs ago). We spent time on Oahu, the Big Island, and Maui and thought it was simply paradise. I hope to take my kids on vacation there someday.

Of course everyone says places like that are different when you live there, but for me, it's my dream place. . .

Ahh you're moving to Hawaii! You're going to miss the camping trip, lol. Anyways, if it were me, I would sell all my PUL. It does get really hot here, but only in the summer, if it were hot year round, I probably wouldn't use any PUL.

Ahhhh Hawaii....If I dared to fly, one of the first places I would visit. But, being a good ol' landlubber, I have to settle for watching Lilo and Stitch and Blue Crush.:LOL I use PUL all the time here in Texas, and read my location...its HOT here!! Not just Humid....HOT!! Anyone who lives near or on the Gulf of Mexico Coast, knows what I am talking about. Your eyeballs can get sunburned here!! Seriously!! I would hang on to a couple and ditch the others (I know of this FANTASTIC retirement ranch for Disposanots!! )!:LOL So, pet your wool, and whisper promises of sand and fun to it and don't fret anymore. Enjoy the breeze and sound of the ocean in your ears. Best Wishes And God Bless Jenn!! Have a safe move!! :LOL

Well I'm still undecided but I think I'm going to go ahead and sell my PUL other than my FCB's and Darling Diapers and then go from there. My DD's are only 1 mil and very stretchy so maybe I could get away with them? Oh I don't know! I'm such a fuddy duddy! lol

I will miss you too and I know I'm missing the camping trip, I've had so many day dreams about sitting around the fire in the woods with our babies too! But I don't get to pick the timing on this one. *sniff*

Well I guess I'll get to see what Hawaii is like, I've never been there. I'm moving to Oahu. And as it is we go coverless most days so we probably will there too or do soakers like Angelica mentioned.. I mean geez, I have enough wool! :LOL

Angelica - You completely crack me up! I'm still trying to tame my inner wool hyena! It's difficult I'll admit though!

Joanne - You are so silly!! I haven't been to the club but I've passed it or walked next to it a number of times. I'm not a club person (I've been with Dan since I was 17 so I kind of missed that part of life). If I did go clubbing I might go there though! :LOL A rental fee, where do you think up this stuff?! Silly!

I'd keep a few. Dallin is in wool a lot, but PUL is so trim under his clothes (esp. for church) and BTW- I am sooooo jealous you are moving to Hawaii. My family just took a trip without me. I've never been. My dad said there's no way he would live there all the time though because the price of living is outrageous! He said a gallon of milk was like $7

I know it is! We will be in the poor house! We plan to move into a 1 bedroom apartment and we both have to work (although I only have to work part time, but here I don't have to work). And Dan's grandmother will be helping us out above and beyond that and we'll be working off shifts so that we won't need daycare.. it will be beautiful but we'll be poor! :LOL

out of curiosity, why hawaii? we live in a very humid area, for example, you need to take about 4 showers a day to stay smelling fresh. we DO NOT use pul at all from about march to november. it's too dang hot and humid for it. we also have indian summers in oct and sometimes nov. temps in the high 90s with 100% humidity. if hawaii is anything like that i'd sell off the PUL that you think you can live without. currently we have i think 4 covers that have PUL in them, and they are all set aside for the fall LOL
