So, I'm throwing a surprise shower for my best friend, and me and her sister are making her up a registry at target. Target carries hotslings (who knew?) but they only have sizes 2-4. My best friend is a bit on the big side. Not huge, but definatly not a "medium" which is the description for size 4. Is this off? Looking at the other sizes, I would be a size 2 (x-small), but I typically wear a medium. Anyone have experience with thier sizes?

Doing more looking, they carry peanut shells as well. Anyone have a preference for that over the hotsling?

Also, anyone have experience with the "sidekick"? I've never heard of it. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000FIN1WG

Thanks in advance!

I think this is definitely an individual thing to begin with but the sizing wasn't typical for me. I measured myself online to be a 3-4 but I tried on a 3 at LLL and was surprised to find it too big. For reference I am more of a M-L, definitely not an XS anymore. I think the difference for me is that I am pear shaped so the upper half of my body is very small compared to my belly down.

So I would think it depends a little more on the upper than lower body shape. Is your friend large breasted or bigger up top? Then I would probably go with a larger size. In the end she can always take it back to target for an exchange anyway, right?

First of all, that carrier is just stupid looking. It's not against the UA to say that, right?

I also found that hotslings run big. I would get her one and let her return it. I'm willing to bet that the hotslings website would let you exchange with them as long as it's unused. Worth asking.

See if you can take her shoulder to hip measurement -- I find that's more accurate than the t-shirt/bra sizing. You can do it on her back if she's preggo, and if she's got a large chest then maybe an an inch or so. You don't have to tell her what the measurement's for!

Alternatively you could always get her a gift card to Target or to another retailer and let her choose her own -- there are so many awesome prints that Hotslings makes, and I'm never sure whether my taste matches someone else's!
