Hotslings: Basic Sling or Basic Stretch Sling

I'd like to order a hotsling.

I'm a baby wearing virgin.
: My first baby is due in September and I'd like something that I can use without too much effort and that will be comfortable for momma and baby.

So, back to the question, I think a hotsling is a good choice for me since it isn't overly expensive and will get me in the baby wearing game. It looks simple enough for me to figure out.

Would you all recommeng the stretch sling or the basic woven sling?

Thanks!

I think a pouch is a great choice and Kristen at Hotslings makes wonderful pouches! I don't think that she really makes any made from from woven fabrics...at least not what I think of when I think of the slings made from woven fabrics. She mades just plain (or not so plain <grin>) cotton fabric ones from like a calico non-stretch cotton and ones with a bit of stretch to them...I have both and I like them both quite a lot. My stretch one is one layer and my non-stretch fabric one is reversable and I really prefer the reversible but I think you can get the stretch reversable as well-I think that would be my recommendation but really there is not a big difference either way.

BTW, woven fabrics are great for slings as well. The Maya Pouch is made from what I think of as a woven fabric...the fabric itself has some give to it. The Maya Pouch is adjustable which is nice for the post-partum period where your size might still be fluctuating quite a bit. I think that Kristen offers to adjust the sizing on her pouches as well so that may not be an issue if you order from her anyhow,

Hope this helps!

I would personally get the stretch pouch. Since you're new to babywearing and the sling isn't adjustable, I'd like a little movement there. I have another adjustable (but not stretch) cotton pouch, and it takes a little getting used to.
I have the sari stretch and the stretch is just enough to be super comfy. It doesnt over stretch. My vote is stretch!
Definitely stretch. I have 2 stretch Hotslings. Don't forget about the KKAFP as well...you will LOOOOOOVE it with a newborn.
Stretch for sure! There is just a tiny bit of stretch, like if you have a pair of stretch denim jeans, it is just enough to provide a little movement. I'm thinking of trying one of her non-stretch pouches as well though, cause I'm sure they are wonderful too!

Thanks mommas...

I forgot to measure myself, so I can't order until I get home tonight. But I wanna order now.
Okay, temper tantrum over, I can surely wait until tonight!
