The ONLY birth show on TV that doesn't give me nightmares, is not getting a second season from Discovery.

[email protected]
Oh I like that one too!

Course, I also like Special Delivery on Discovery Health, so . . . (I like that one b/c even when bad things happen, everything usually turns out pretty well)

Yup, I got the same form letter. I am pretty sure that one of their major sponsors is putting a damper on the whole thing...or why would they go against the ratings AND a huge public outcry and cancel it anyway? Probably one of the formula companies threatening to drop commercials or something.:

Probably... because House of Babies likely had alot more breastfeeding women, whereas the regular baby shows almost always show women giving up on bf'ing (or not even trying) within the first few days and switching to formula. I keep screaming "Call an LLL leader!!!!!!" at the TV, but that doesn't seem to be helping.

That'sa bummer but that sounds about par for the course.

I liked House of Babies. Sometimes it made me shudder, but usually it was a good shudder I'll even take the super hands-on obviously coached births on there to pretty muchany of the other shows. At least those were drug-free ones occuring in a birth center, usually in water (however shallow it may havebeen....) That is truly sad. What an autrocity to our viewing public. Women DESERVE to see how birth can be. They deserve to see that birth can occur just fine and dandy without bright lights and surgical instruments nearby. This is a television travesty

I've been recording as many show as I can before its gone completely. Its not perfect, but its a breath of fresh air compared to special delivery or even worse a baby story.

I got the same reply to the comments I sent. I hate the dramatic male voice on the other birth shows on DHC. It's as if every birth is full of life threatening drama!! Ohh if women only knew the beautiful experience they could have and that's what House of Babies showed!!

I would never have chosen to birth with Shari or her House of Babies trained MWs, but it was still the best birth show around!

I sent a "I love this show" (mixed feelings really, but it's WAY better than anything else they have) a couple (several?) months ago and got the same letter.

I'd want to hear from someone at the center, but it could be that Shari et al didn't like the way the show was being done...? Still sucks, though.
