Just throwing this idea out into the world and seeing what comes back!

We live in a kid-friendly house in a very touristy town (Asheville, NC), right near a hip part of town. We also like to travel alot but HATE the cost of having a dogsitter. Hoping I can combine the two and possibly find a family that may want to do some housesitting. Since there are so many transplants to Asheville, maybe it could be a house-hunting trip? Or maybe just get to get to play tourist (we'll hook you up with the good local spots to go!).

We have 1 tank of fish that need to be fed once a day. We have 2 big loving dogs that need to go in their pen in the morning, be fed and then come in at night. They LOVE going for a walk in the evenings, but it's not absolutely necessary (just makes them happier since their pen is fairly small). Also, there'd be general stuff like bringing in the mail, etc.

House details:

GOODS:
- 2 bedrooms, can sleep up to 7 - BR#1 has twin over full bunkbed, BR#2 has Queen bed on floor & full-size futon
- south-facing shade trees - stays very cool indoors, only ceiling fans usually needed.
- 2 blocks from Haywood Rd (hip West Asheville)
- 1/2 block from bus stop
- 2 blocks from pharmacy, music store, and convenience store
- less than a mile (we have bikes and it's very bikeable distance) to the village part of West AVL (natural foods store, AP shop, video rental, grocery store, etc.)
- A few network TV stations & DVD Player
- Internet
- Very hip neighborhood with really cool neighbors - mostly hippies and outdoor enthusiast type people
- I do childcare in my home and also have a 4 and 7 yo's.0 So, most toys are age appropriate of toddler through 7.

NOT SO GOODS (fine for us - but maybe not for most):
- No clothes dryer - nice clotheslines, though
- Internet is dial-up
- Yard is not fenced
- Yard is small, but still playable - my kids have made *sure* of that! We do have swings, climbing cube, sandbox, etc.
- Shower only. We have a steel garden tub that fits in the shower and is nice for about age 3 and under.

======================================

the dates I know for sure I need someone to come are:
Wednesday, May 2 through Monday, May 7
Tuesday, June 26 through Sunday, July 1

There will definatly be smaller weekend dates thrown in , so if anyone is interested in any of those dates or maybe just a weekend, please pm me. Of course, I'd need references. This would not pay anything - it would just be a straight trade of dogsitting/housesitting for free lodging.
