yeah, I know, it's babies r us
but my arm is being twisted to register

Is there one that has more than a few things on the sales floor? I went to the Westheimer/Fountainview location and was incredibly underwhelmed by the selection

have you been to the one out 290? and hollister i think? they have a LOT more natural stuff now than they did when ds was born 3 years ago.

just in case you care, you can also register at nurtured family. they have an online AND brick and mortar store in houston. awesome stuff there!

I've just never been impressed by them, selection or otherwise. Their prices are ridiculously expensive. At Target or other baby stores you can get the same items at 10-30% less.
I registered there w/ DD but thinking back I think it was a little selfish of me to ask my family/friends pay more for items on my registry than if I had registered elsewhere. Plus, I've never had anyone approach me for assistance...high prices and sucky selection- for what? Rant over.

I second Nurtured Family. If you have to choose a "big box" store (like for out of towners who insist) then I'd go for Target instead.

Some of the Babies R Us stores are only half of a store (like ours, Shwarma!)

The one on I-45 at El Dorado (Clear Lake area) is huge. You may be able to start your registry in the store and add to it online, or it may not even be necessary to go into the store. I think for Target you have to actually go into the store in person to start it, but you can add to it online.

The first time I went into B-R-Us I wanted to turn and run! I was so overwhelmed---I thought, I don't even know what half this stuff is, let alone how to use it!
Turned out most of it was unnecessary.

Congrats and GL!

Another option is a www.thethingsiwant.com if you have people who will shop online. You can go there and create a registry and then add things from any website. That way you could have stuff from Target or BRU if people want to shop in the store, but also places like magic cabin or natural babies online. It is how we do the kids Christmas and Birthday wish list every year.

Yes, the 290 BRU is at Hollister. I never thought it was that great, but I live within walking distance of it so I've never gone to another one. I think there is more green choices at BRU than at Target - they have 3 different brands of "eco-friendlier" disposable diapers (7th gen, Earth's Best, and Nature Babycare) while the Target in the same shopping center carries none.

We did thethingsiwant.com for Christmas this year... I have to say that my mom and my mil both had some problems with it and found it confusing. So maybe not a great option if you have a lot of older people invited. Plus a lot of people just go shopping the day of the shower, so I bet you'd end up with a lot of unwanted stuff that way.

I really like Nurtured Family too, but unless you want to register mostly for cloth diapers, their selection of other stuff in the store is not that big. http://www.nurturedfamily.com/
Another possibility is Bebe Verde http://www.bebeverde.com, but I've never been there so I don't know the selection or if they do a registry.

I ended up going to the one on hollister and they had a MUCH better selection! We ended up registering at babies r us and target. We considered a multiple stores online registry, but I know my parents and aunts aren't comfortable online so that's right out. At this point, I'm just glad it's done.

I'm going up to nurtured family with a friend this week and can't wait. We won't be registering there, but I will get some business cards to give to family if they want to give us gift cards (and for a woman's work too).

Thanks for all the tips!
