Is there anywhere to see what an "average" shoe size is per age? I'm just curious. My mother was with me the other day when I took my boys to get new shoes. My mother was blown away that they "are only two sizes apart in shoes!". My 7 year old (just turned 7) is a 1 1/2. My 4 1/2 year old is an 11 1/2. Is this weird? I don't really care, but her remark made me curious.

My 4 yo daughter has size 11 shoes.

My 7 yo son has size 4 Y shoes.

My kids both have big feet for their age, though ds' are bigger for his age than dd's are.

And your boys are more than sizes apart because there's 13 in there. If you count the 1/2 sizes, it doesn't look so "close".

11 1/2 - 12 - 12 1/2 - 13 (is there a 13 1/2?) - 1 - 1 1/2

I would suggest thinking of it in terms of height not age. My son's feet are bigger and wider for his height than my daughter's but they both have pretty big feet.

My 4.66 year old daughter wears a 12.5/13. Some 13s are too small and some 13s are way too big. She is about 45" tall.

My 3.4 year old son wears a wide 11. He is about 41" tall.

My 4.5y/o is in a 12.5W and my 2yo is in an 8.5 or 9. We'll find out for sure once he starts wearing "real" shoes again this fall...

My son was a size one when he turned 4 -- and I freaked out because they were suddenly "Big Kid" shoes!! But, his feet haven't grown much (or at all?) in a year. He still comfortably wears the two pairs we got him last summer. Your kids sound normal -- children grow at different rates and eventually growth slows down... I mean, I only wear a size 8 and I'm 34 years old! My 11 yo niece wears the same size I do! Oh nooooes!

Hmmm ok, now I am wondering what is up with my daughters feet! she is almost 5, but still wears a size 8.5 or 9! She is 75th height and 90th weight, so she is on the more average side for her age and yet what is up with the feet? They rarely grow much either. She wore the same pair of shoes for over two years once, and I actually thought that there was some strange disorder going on. Huh. Reading all the sizes your kids are wearing makes me even more curious.

My 4yo DD is almost in a size 11, but her feet have really slowed down in growth. I would think of it the same as how they slow down with clothing, too. kwim

My kids have itty-bitty feet.

DD (8.99999) wears a 12.5 - she's 50" tall

DS (7.5) wears an 11 - he's 44" tall

I'm 5'3" and wear a 5/5.5 and DH is 6' and wears a 10, so it's not like we have big feet either.

my 4 yr old dd is in a 8 or a 9. 8's seem to be just a tad snug but 9's are a tiny bit loose. Her feet are really narrow too. She's really tall and skinny.
my 2 yr old dd wears a 6 or 7 depending on the shoe.
DH has big feet-12 or 13 depending on the brand. I wear 7's so I think the girls got dh's height and my small feet. lol
