Hi! I am Raquel and I am just about getting ready to TTC #3. (I have been trying to finish up quickly a whole lot of dental work. I have a history of preterm birth, so want that out of the way before we start trying).

Anyway, I am nursing Asher (who will be 2 in November). I have had regular periods for 18 months now and have an LH surge show on an ovulation preditor kit. But, I am not taking my temperatures (I co-sleep and he is up a lot, it would be very difficult). How do I know if I am ovulating? I am concerned b/c I don't seem to have a whole lot of quality cervical mucous.

A complicating factor is my age, 37 next week. Because of my "advanced age", I know I am less fertile.

I would prefer not to wean Asher unless I am not ovulating. How would I know? Thanks

Raquel

Raquel,

We are almost in the same place!

I am 40, and am also TTC #3. We have had 3 cycles of trying, to no avail. I will be in 2WW mode by the weekend. I too, am nursing a baby who will be a year old in 2 weeks.

With my first 2, (10 years old, and 1 year old)I conceived on the first try each time. I used NFP for years and years, and always knew exactly when I was fertile.

But now, my body is not giving me the signals I am used to, probably due to nursing. I have regular cycles, but that is all I know at this point. I don't know for sure if I am ovulating, I don't think I can absolutly know if I am.

I really want to get PG soon, due to my age.

For now, I look at the calander and plan around the day I think falls in the middle, the day I would have ovulated. Then we have sex every other day a week before and after that day. DH loves the plan so far....
Me, well..I am just to tired!

Good luck to you!

I haven't found co-sleeping or night waking to significantly impact my temperatures. I know everybody's different, but I can get up, go pee, and come back to bed (or walk around while taking it) and still not have it change my temp at all. Talking, eating or drinking right then might make a difference. :) Try it and see!
