I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. But ds is 20 months and I'm thinking about taking Vitex to try to get my cycle back. I don't want to stop nursing at all though and I don't want my supply to get low. I'd heard this could be a side effect of Vitex.

I don't pump...so how do I know if it's getting low? Will letdown feel different? Will ds suddenly want to nurse constantly?

Can anyone tell me how to tell?

I would think if he suddenly changes his nursing behavior significantly, whether he refuses the breast suddenly or wants it all the time, that would be a sign of dropping supply. Kellymom also has a page on it. That said, I doubt the Vitex will cause you to totally dry up. A slight dip in supply shouldn't harm a 20-month-old unless he really doesn't eat solid food yet.

I am going to start Vitex too. Is there a buddy thread somewhere for it? Or should we start one? I have had my cycle back since my baby was just a few weeks old but haven't managed to get pregnant yet. So I'm starting Vitex as soon as I remember to buy it.

I don't know if there is a thread for mamas on vitex. I wouldn't mind hearing how it goes for you though! I'm thinking if I don't get AF this month by the 10th then I'm going to start on it. I can keep you updated!
