I trust that birth is safe, normal, and should be a beautiful experience. My first birth was with a midwife in a birth center. I had a great birth with no complications. But my daughter was not breathing well, even after suctioning, so we took her to the NICU. She is now fine and healthy. I am TTC baby #2 and this time around, I'd like to have a homebirth. (yay!)
I was wondering what you (and DP) did to prepare? Obviously there is the birth kit to assemble or purchase. But what about educating yourself about what to look for as far as signs of trouble or distress for you or baby?
My only concern is that if I had not been with a midwife, would I have known that Isa needed medical attention? Would I have realized it too late to have helped her? Could I possibly prepare myself to check my own baby out to make sure s/he is okay or should I trust that task to a midwife?
If there is already a thread on this, please just redirect me and I'll look there.
Thanks!
