Just curious.

Were you a long-time mdc'er who migrated over to the hsing board as your kids got older?

Were you a hser with no ties to mdc who stumbled upon the hsing board?

Or??????

I was on the old AOL momsonline boards, getting some flack about nursing my (then) toddler dd and someone suggested I check out mdc. We were considering hsing my (then) 8 y/o and mdc seemed to have people willing to discuss all those things I was interested in without first having to discuss how weird it was.

So, what brought YOU to mdc's hsing boards?

MDC member who thought, sounds great, but I cannot for the life of me imagine doing it. Then a friend of mine gave me some books to lend to a friend, I read them all in about two days and that was it. Now I'm here all the time.

I was also an MDC member and thought "lovely idea, I could never do it though". I can hardly believe that WE HAVE been doing it though and are in second grade now (just makes it easier to quantify and keep up when people ask). I am really glad dd still loves it...hope she continues to as well as our homeschool activities are falling by the wayside and being canceled due to poor attendance/no participation.....
...despite there being 100 people in the "group".

I found the MDC through another mom in our hsing group. She actually told me about the diapering board
As I got braver I ventured out to the other forums. We were already hsing but I loved the diversity and support of the folks here. I found everyone willing to share their ideas, successes and concerns. I still do

I'm a short-time MDCer of almost 3 years. (I'm still baffled as to how I didn't find this place sooner when I started receiving Mothering magazine almost 6 yrs ago!?) I intended on sending my kids to school but when the time came to take the plunge, my anxiety soared & where did I come? Right here! I knew this would be the ONE place I could find all the variety & wisdom that I needed to make my decision & feel comfortable with it. And I did.

My involvement on MDC ebbs & flows and I hadn't frequented the board in a long time. This forum drew me back & now I'm all over the place again.

I've always known I was going to homeschool, and have been a lurker on the boards for a long time. Now that I have a little one that has to be worn at all times I fit more into the MDC world, and have been around alot more looking for advice. I stay around long enough eventually I will start posting.

I don't remember what brought me here. I was probably just surfing the net and trying to find homeschooling or parenting message boards I'm sure. I love parenting message boards and message boards in general.

Well, my memory is crap, but I think I came here because Momsonline shut down? I was getting Mothering the magazine and I guess some of the AP moms on Momsonline mentioned this board. No, wait, when MOL shut down first we went somewhere else. Then that blew up for various reasons. I think *then* I came here. Bridget was 3 or 4 I guess (just checked my join date - she was 3.5
). I have no memory of when I started posting in homeschooling though. I was already planning on home/unschooling but I don't know if I was chatty about it yet.

I was an MDCer whose child went to PS. It wasn't working out and I found a whole HSing community here to learn from. Once I felt I had the answers to all my questions and had some confidence and "real" people who I knew who did it I took the leap.

Haven't looked back!

I don't remember how I found MDC, but we've always kind of intended to homeschool.
Then we moved here and with how awful the public schools are and that there are no private schools... it solidified the choice pretty easily.

I found MDC looking for information on pumping and working when dd1 was 4 months old. I lurked for a long time, then joined when I thought I had something helpful to say.

Homeschooling chose us when it became clear that dd1 wouldn't be able to thrive in an institutional school environment when we looked in to preschool and kindergarten.

MDC is where I get many of my best ideas for homeschooling!

I've been on MDC for a while under a couple of different names. WHen we were in process of adopting we knew we were gonna homeschool. When it was getting close to time to quit my job and take DS out of preschool, I started hanging out on this board. Been here ever since. We have been home for two years now.

I came to MDC for a due date club two years ago. I am second generation homeschooling and always new it's what I'd do, so when dd got older and we started really doing something in regards to "active education" around here, I navigated to this sub forum!
