Is there any good resource out there (besides this board, natch) that "teaches" you how to co-sleep? Like, were to put them, what to do when the roll over or start crawling, etc.

Or did you just do it and follow your instinct?

I read the Sleep Book by Dr. Sears and found it really helpful. I was nervous about sleeping safely and he has some great practical advice for setting up the bed safely with covers and pillows and preventing roll offs and the like.

When DD was born, our midwife tucked us all into bed and showed me that she might be most comfortable in the crook of my arm. Since then we've always co-slept. As she's grown, we've done it differently.

go to the LLL website there is a really well done book on co sleeping. it talks about it from an anthropological prospective which is really interesting. It also talks about how to Co sleep safely. recommendations for where everyone should be, where the bed should be, types of bedding, furniture around the bed etc. and bonus.. its really short lol.

Co-sleeping started for us when I finally figured out how to nurse in the side-lying position. I was so exhausted, I just had to learn this tactic and I fell asleep while ds was nursing. We have co-slept since then.

I just figured out how to protect him when he was tiny from blankets and possible roll-overs from my snoring dh and we have been in heaven ever since.

We just co-slept. I don't remember thinking about it so I guess it just happened. With 3rd DD we did use this little cushion bed for her that fit between us that had a little light attached to the top to see when nursing but it lasted about 2 weeks and we just chucked it and slept regular.

Well, we just did it. I knew that I was going to co-sleep with this one as I did with my first, but with my first, it was just me. (I was a teen mom) So, I knew it might be different with my husband.

It had a few more challenges, but I'm glad we're doing it.

I just used some basic common sense. I have heard that (like pp's mentioned) the Doctor Sears books really help. I know that his Birth Book and Vaccine Book were awesome, so I assume his sleeping books are, too!
