It seems like there are at least a few people on this board who have encapsulated their placenta. I'm really trying to weigh whether it's worth it or not. The only person that does it locally charges $300 and that's just too much for us. My hubby is sweet and very supportive, but has a low yuck factor for this particular idea. I'm wanting to try hard this time to stick with the 5 days in the bed/on the bed/near the bed. And I just feel weird asking a friend to do it.
But IF we did it ourselves, what are your recommendations on the easiest way?
Did you feel it made a difference when you took your capsules?

TIA!

I made a tincture with mine. I couldn't bear the thought of eating it and didn't know if I'd get around to encapsulating it. It was pretty easy actually. I found the recipe here at MDC. I had to take a chunk off right after birth and place it in a glass jar filled with water and put it in the sun for several hours (5 hours maybe?). Then I had to remove the placenta and add vodka to preserve it. Then I added a bit of that mixture to a tincture bottle and filled the rest with vodka. I'll try to dig up the exact measurements/directions. It was really easy and worked well. You can add the tincture to very hot water to cook off the vodka before using it.

I encapsulated mine. My mws steamed it and put in in the dehydrator right after the birth. It took about 24 hrs to dehydrate and then dh ground it up with our coffee grinder and put it in capsules for me. Pretty easy. I definitely noticed a difference in my mood and energy level.

I encapsulated mine. Got it in the fridge right away, then rinsed it a bit & cut chunks off to dry a few days later. Stuck it in the dehydrator, then ground it up & put it in capsules.
