I need to bring both a urine sample and a stool sample to the vet. (My dog's urine and stool, not mine. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> )<br><br>
So picture me... walking my dog through our suburban neighborhood; Tupperware and Ziploc bags in hand.<br><br>
He stops to pee on a fence post. I dive toward him with the container like an outfielder going for a difficult catch, and he pees on my hand. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
We jog down the street a little further, while I try to ignore my stinky, sticky hand. He stops to pee at a telephone poll. Again, I try to catch the pee, but I bump his leg, I break his concentration, and he doesn't pee at all. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/angry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="angry"><br><br>
A few houses down, he stops again. "This time for <i>sure</i>!" I say to myself. I stretch my arm out, holding the container under him. I lose my balance and fall sideways and bonk my shoulder against the neighbor's mailbox post.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
HOW DO I DO THIS??<br><br>
(And yes, I can see the humor. Laugh away. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> )

<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/ROTFLMAO.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rotflmao"> Yeah, you had me rolling. But, really, only cause I can totally see myself doing exactly the same! Tape a plastic cup - or better yet a small margarine-type tub to something like a meter stick or even a broom handle. Then you can slip it under there without having to be right on top of him - and without getting your hand in the line of fire. With a girl dog, I've heard you can slip a pie plate under them when they squat. Yeah - wouldn't work for my boy dog who likes to aim and shoot. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> Good luck!

If you stared at me I'd just assume that you were impressed. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
The hard part is tranfering the sample from the ladle to something that won't spill while sill on a walk. Heh. I've seen people get tangled in leashes. Lots of wet shoes. Ew.

all i have to say is that it is MUCH easier to get one from a dog than it is from a cat <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:

Thanks... I needed that! If he has a regular spot at home in your yard that he always marks, you could just put a large pan/container (or multiple) around it, chances are you'll get some.<br><br>
Oh god I have to pee now, I can't stop laughing.
