or do I at all?

I am applying for a job that has come up and I need to write a resume and cover letter. I concidered having someone else write it and paying them (as Im not very good with that sort of thing) but it's short notice (the closing date is April 15) and the cost is prohibitive (the only person to get back to me charges $160).

So, I haven't had a full time job in over 5 years and I'm wondering how do I address that? Should I mention that I've been at home raising my children, or just wait and mention it during the interview?

I'm posting this here and not in SAHM because I want a wide variety of views -- hopefully there are some parents out there who have experienced this and can give me some advice.

When I went back to work after being a stay at home mom I listed in my resume "professional experience" and "experience." The first was my previous work experience and the second was the experience (unpaid) that I got while home...i.e. serving on the board of my daughter's preschool, running a nursing mother's group, etc. I think it is OK to be creative to show the valuable experiences that we have as SAHM's. Good Luck Mama!!
