I wanted to start my own retail store of products for AP moms. As it turns out, my market would be very very small in this community. So I've given up.
Now, I want to care for one or two young children / babies in my home just because I love kids (career b4 "mom" was a teacher). But I don't know where to start. I do know (thanks to another MDC mom's suggestion) of the going rate for care in my area.

But the rest, I'm clueless about. I'd really really appreciate input from experienced moms on these:
1. What agency do I need to contact to find out if I have to have a license?
2. Where should I advertise? The classified ads seem expensive.
3. What are the major areas I need to cover in a contract?
4. How often do you collect payment?
5. How do I set-up part-time care (fees to charge if f/t care averages about $400/month for toddlers+up)?
6. How do I protect myself from liability?

TIA,
