I emailed one lady who I know had a homebirth and another poster here on MDC that hinted she had some homebirth midwife info ~ if I don't hear back from those two how do I find lay midwives where homebirths are considered illegal?

Is there some super-secret place that I can go to find one!

I would love any info you may have ~~ I'm in Omaha, Nebraska btw.

Also check into area doulas who might know of midwives in the area. There's a "Birth Services" in the next county with a handful of birth doulas, a couple of post-partum doulas and they offer Bradley and breastfeeding classes... they give out midwife referrals and referrals to natural childbirth-friendly OBs/ped.

: We found ours by talking to doulas, and found out our doula was a midwife's assistant.

: She took the words right out of my mouth...Chiros, natural food stores, yoga instructors, doulas, there are ways to find out! Good luck on your hunt, I didn't find mine til I was 5 months, but it was so worth it!
