How do I get the bubbles out???

I use HHs, FBs, and have a few Wonderoos. I am switching over to FB completely (ordered a bunch before the new pricing took effect) but haven't received them yet and I want to solve this issue before I mess up my new diapers.

I use a mini shower and rinse them completely in cold water. Then I put them in my machine (average city water, not soft or hard) with about 2 Tbsp of Tide. I do a hot wash and two cold rinses. During the second rinse I was curious so I looked and there were a ton of bubbles. After the spin there was even soap up around the top rim of the machine (I use a top loading machine). I rinsed them 3 more times and still bubbles. What can I do to get rid of the soap? I hardly use any soap at all, and dh is going to have a fit when he sees the water bill!!!

Maybe I am not rinsing right. I wash on permanent press and turn the knob to hot/cold. Then I just rinse (the line says cold rinse and the next line says final rinse). Should I let them spin or is this hard on them? Should I be doing the full wash cycle again minus the detergent or just the rinse cycle? Should I use a drop of Dawn--what does this do and when do I put it in?

Thanks!!!

You might need to strip your machine first, using vinegar and baking soda. You could have soap buildup there. Also, try rinsing out your inserts by hand in the kitchen sink, and see what kind of suds you get there. Once they are rinsed totally clean, by hand, you know you are dealing with fresh inserts (without soapy residue). Probably wouldn't hurt to strip the inserts also first.

I have the same issue that I battle. I only use about 1 tablespoon of Charlie's soap (we have a water softener), and I still get suds.

It's frustrating....
I would definitely try stripping them, and stripping your machine. Also maybe try less detergent, even before I started using Charlie's Soap and had a front loader, I used only a tablespoon of a regular detergent (I used cheap stuff, purex/sun) with my top loader.
As everyone else is saying strip your machine. Also use only 1 Tablespoon of detergent. I use Little Miacles for diapers and pails but only 1 Tablespoon full

I will switch to 1 Tbsp and also strip my machine.

How much vinegar and how much BS do I use to strip the machine? Then do I run a normal cycle?

So you think it is the inserts holding the soap and not the diapers?

What about Dawn?

Thanks!
Check this out regarding stripping the machine.... http://www.mothering.com/discussions...aundry+machine

I'm not sure about the dawn. I've only used it to first remove the oil from hemp inserts.
I'd try stripping them. I use a squirt of Dawn to strip mine. Also, I do find that most of my build-up or any issues is usually in the inserts, and not the diapers themselves.

Also, you are supposed to use cold rinses, but try a coupld of warm water rinses. Sometimes warm water can bring out more suds than cold water can--that way you can get rid of them. This works for me.

Okay, I put the diapers and inserts in my bathtub and sprayed them with the (very powerful) shower head. Next to no bubbles. Yet my washer still has them all up around the rim, even after the water has drained and the washer is off. Very bizarre.

I thought I had vinegar but I am out so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to strip the washer. I can't imagine that it is full of soap but the diapers aren't. Very strange.
Can you look inside your machine during a hot wash? If you see a lot of suds then I would suggest you carry on doing hot washes/ warm rinses with no detergent. You can add a laundry booster such as RLR to the first hot wash to help remove buildup, then do hot/warm washes until all the deturgent is washed out. I have just stripped my diapers (first time since I bought them) and it's taken 4 cycles to produce clear bubble free water. I didn't even think I had build up as I have had no smell or rash issues.
Ugh, I stripped the machine, stripped the diapers, used 1 Tbsp of detergent, ran a second rinse, and STILL have a TON of bubbles. I am just going to keep rinsing until they are gone but I'm not hopeful. The funny thing is when I rinse them in the tub there are no bubbles.
