So on a mainstream birth board I go to one lady had her son circumcized recently and then last week started asking questions about adhesions, etc. Her son had them and the dr. had to pull them back. It's been a problem for her and she said she was so sad he was hurting.

Fast forward to today, someone else asked a question about getting their as yet unborn child circed and she posted on the thread that she just had her son done, had no problems, and no regrets at all!.

Is she living in some alternate reality where problems = no problems?

She would not really want to admit the problems her son has experienced, because it might result in.....
1.Feelings of guilt for having him cut
2.Others not circumcising, and thus resulting in a lower circ rate.

So in her eyes adhesions are a normal part of male penile care, and her son is still better off cut and in pain than intact.

I just want to say that I really admire the folks who go to the mainstream boards. I know that it is hard work, but those are really the front lines where alot of people really do need the info that informed intactivists can provide.

Most of the time, I don't have the stomach for it, so I am greatly indebted to those of you that diligently make a difference there.

I did a stint on the mainstream boards before I knew about MDC. I would regularly have horrible dreams about it...it consumed me. The all out ignorance is astounding. I don't do mainstream boards anymore.....so kudos to you for sticking it out!

Argh. I'm almost done though. I don't go to certain places anymore. It's just "too" much.

I'm just tearing my hear out. The newest piece of info on this board is from "someone who works in a urologist's office" who was saying women who vbac are at a much higher risk of retrocele's and other problems.

I guess she thinks all women should opt for a c-section, need or not, because ANY vaginal birth puts you at risk for those, not just vbac.

ARGH!

I used to think people were all pretty much the same, but i don't think that anymore. I think most people are actually pretty fricking stupid.

I can't stomach it either. There is a homeschooling board that I really enjoy going to. A couple times a year circ comes up and I am generally so disgusted by some of the comments that I won't go back for several days to make sure the thread is gone. There was one thread a few months ago where the mom was worried about circing her new son (she'd circed the first 2 but she was outside the room for the 2nd boy and felt terrible hearing him cry). She wanted to circ but didn't want it to be painful for the baby.
A few moms tried to talk her out of doing it and she got upset and started a new thread saying she only wanted the opinions of those who had circed.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once we went to a playgroup where a couple of the moms were talking about circ, and how they were annoyed that their doctor didn't warn them that boys can get adhesions while the skin heals. I (regrettably!) asked one of the moms what she did when her son got adhesions, and she replied (quoting here) "well, my husband just took that attached skin and *ripped* it back"

Ugh. I was recently talking to a couple of "mom aquaintences" and they started talking about how horrible their babies' circs were. One of them said that her little guy got adhesions and the dr. had to "rip" them back. They sort of looked at me for some sort of response and I said, "Well, my guy isn't circed so we don't have to worry about any problems." They looked at me like I sprouted a second head. It was one of the proudest moments in my life!

Good for you for saying what needed to be said. It seems like everyone I know who's had a boy circ'ed recently has this adhesion problem (on mainstream boards AND in real life). They always complain that nobody told them to pull the skin back. I always think, "Well, if they would have just RESEARCHED it, they would know some of this stuff (and maybe not have circ'ed in the first place)!"

What I hate, is when you say you don't have to worry about adhesions and they say, "Yeah, well, you're going to have to deal with tons more infections."
Again, if they had just researched it, they would know something about it.

To the OP: They probably hear this happening to "everybody" so they consider it to be a normal part of circ. And that's just
.

Get this: The lady who said her baby had the adhesions that "had to be ripped back" is an RN!
