I'm looking for tips and suggestions!

In september we are driving down to Anaheim to go to Disneyland and visit family...we'll be gone 4 days, 3 nights.

We just got back from camping for about that long, and I just brought everything I had, prett much. But the baby will 3 1/2 months by then so I think I'll need less then.

I think the day we go to Disneyland I may do sposies
: because I want to go as light as possible....my wetbag can get pretty heavy and we aren't bringing a stroller (we've got wraps for baby and an ergo for the 2 yo).

We are staying at a hotel...maybe they have laundry facilities? Then I could just bring a mall stash and wash like saturday night? Or is that just silly?

Any suggestions, stories or info would be great.

Disneyland is a pretty easy place for cd-ing, I've found. On Main Street there's a baby care station that has a big basin sink with a flushy thing...perfect for rinsing out poopie diapers. And of course bathrooms with changing areas are everywhere in the park. Carrying around a full wetbag can be a drag...but you can rent a stroller for that purpose. That's what we did...a wrap carried the baby and the stroller carried the gear.

If you can stay at a Candlewood Suites hotel, you'll have free use of their laundry facility.

Have fun!

Truthfully, I've found that washing diapers on vacation is so not worth the effort. The time and money it takes really adds to my stress level. (I spent more at the laundromat last summer than disposables would have cost.) I now pack everything I have, use it as long as it lasts, and then switch to disposables and bring everything home dirty. If you use synthetic diapers that are easy and reasonable to hand wash/ dry, though, I'd find that more viable (I'd probably throw 'em in the tub and shower on them, then rinse well before hanging!)

We CD'd on 2 separate vacations this summer with my 1-yr old. Both trips were just over a week long; one a driving trip where we stayed in several different places and one we went by plane and stayed in one hotel the whole time. We brought only pockets of various kinds, all easy to wash and fast-drying. We did laundry at a friends house once and at hotels a few times and it worked out fine. I was getting some build-up (in the inserts, which would stink after a bit) on the last leg of the 2nd trip, because I wasn't able to wash as thoroughly as I do at home, but nothing too terrible and nothing that would have prevented me from using them. When we got home I just stripped them and now they're good as new. I really liked using them out and about, in part because I loved not generating any trash at diaper changes. The wet bag got a bit ripe in the car, but again, nothing too terrible. I'd definitely do it again.

We did cloth at Disney in January. We brought enough for 3 days and washed twice when we were there. It wasn't too bad--we used the laundromat there and also did the t-shirts, underwear, socks etc in the same loads. We did use a stroller, though, I kinda feel that it is a necessity to carry gear (water, camera, snacks for the kids, etc), so I don't know how it will be without a stroller. More recently, we took a short vacation and stayed at a very chic hotel that had laundry service that you pay through the nose for. For that trip, I brought flats and pocket dipes, and basically washed by hand (in the tub) every night. It actually didn't take long, maybe 20min or so. DH would be responsible for brushing their teeth and getting them to bed. He'd also help me wring the dipes so that they'd dry faster. I had contemplated buying some disposies for that trip, but I don't even know what size dipes DS uses nor whether he'd react to them. My mother (who was with us on the 2nd trip) felt that I was a little extreme, and I'm proud of that!

Anyways, my .02.

Since it sounds as though you do NOT want to cd at Disneyland, I would bring enough for the other days, wait to wash when you get home, and bring Tushies for the actual day at DL.

I have washed cd's on vacation, but for one this short I would just bring enough to make it through and wash at home. Rinse them out well, and even let them dry in the bathroom if you are worried about your dipes sitting in a wet bag for 4 days, yk?

We've only been on one vacation since having a baby and we CD'd the entire time. (DS is allergic to sposies, so we didn't have any other choice really.)

I bought a large wet bag from the camping supply store (it's nylon) and stored the wets/dirties in there, in the bathroom, until we were able to wash them at a laundrymat. I think we washed 2-3 times while we were there.

When we were out and about, I just carried the used dipes in a wetbag tucked in the diaper bag - we did use a stroller for helping us lug things around, though.

I didn't think that using cloth was really that big of a pain - and we use CPFs, pins, and covers. (Though when we were changing DS in the bathroom, another mama suggested Kushies AIOs for traveling.)

HTH!

We have a trip to Disney planned in October. We'll be flying out, and spending 5 days, 4 nights there.

We have so many things planned while we are there, that we are just going to use sposies. I don't want to be stressed out about having to get diaper laundry done at night, when we have other things planned.

We've done other shorter (driving distance) trips just fine with cloth! But, this time, I think it will be easier and less stressful for us if we just use sposies. I'm okay with that!!
