I just went to my chiropractor today for the first time after having Tehran, my back & hips seem to be totally "out". When I went in, my back was killing me, and when I came out my back felt great, but I have had a headache ever since.

I have been going to a chiropractor on and off for about 8 years and have never felt anything but good afterwards. They have fixed up my lower back, a wrist injury (orthopedic surgeon wanted to cut into right away) and my neck. I always felt really sleepy afterwards though. Since we moved I am so lucky I found another good and responsible chiro, as I was worried about that.

Since having your back adjusted affects every nerve in your body, I could see something happening like a headache or runny nose.

If you have had long term chronic pain, do not expect quick miraculous relief.

I had long term back problems after bearing and carrying around 3 kids. It took abt 2 weeks for noticeable relief, and a couple of months of going 3x/wk for real improvement.

My dh has been going since birth and I have been going for the last 4 years. To be honest, headache afterwards and such are why some ppl won't go back.

It is normal. However, mention it to your chiro. My dh had headaches and now the chiro uses a different technique on his cervical vert. and no more headaches!

I love going to the chiro and yes sometimes afterwards it can be a little sore but totally worth it!

My son has hadn't one cold since we started going regular AND no more teething fevers and such!

My h and I go 3x a week right now to get us out of repair mode and into maintenance. My ds is seen 1x a week or more if needed.

I was going to chirp last 2 months of my PG - my lower back was killing me and my neck - I felt great EVERY time I left, but also had terrible headache for about one day - the same day as chiro. Now after the birth my neck is MESS!! I am suffering like hell and really need to go to chiro next week, but my STUPID insurance requires refferal for chiro! So I have to go to physican and pay $15 for taking my blood pressure and writing refferal.........stupid doctors. Sorry, needed to vent........

I love the chiro, massages, acupressure, etc. After such treatments you are prone to maladies because they are removing toxins from your body and you need to flush them out. (the runny noses and headaches may support this.) On the day of a visit, drink lots of water before and after treatment. I'd love to know if it helps.

I went to the chiropractor for over a year for persistent lower back pain on my right side. I almost always left feeling worse than when I went in. I liked some of the stuff she did but it didn't last and they always hooked me up to this stim machine which hurt and left my back spasming so badly that I couldn't even lift my head.

Katambra, you probably had a BAD chiropractor. Mine saved my life, practically. Quality of, ayway.

I also get muscle stim sometimes and the tech lets me tell her how high to turn it up, and it stays comfortable and pleasant.

Maybe try another one?

I almost never have headaches afterwards.

DS has been going since around June ? He had an ear infection (which I cleared naturally
) and this was one of the therapies I tried for him. We kept going because I noticed it helped him to poop once a day (rather than every other day.)

In late July, I finally realized the source of my long-term knee pain. For over 10 years, when I stood or walked for a long time, my knees ached. This was a real problem when I lived in NYC. DH
was worried... he felt I was too young for this type of problem.
I just learned to live with it. In July, we went to NYC again, and the problem started, but this time I made the connection between my knee pain and the fact that my left foot was aiming outward, away from me. I noticed
that when I tried to correct it, my knee ligaments had to correct and it HURT!!!

I mentioned this to her and she said my hip was out of alignment. Ever since that one adjustment - no more pain. I've been going weekly (with my son). I get adjusted every week, my DS every other week. Both my feet point straight ahead, as they should.

I am
eternally grateful.

I don't know if she was good or bad but she could have asked me about my sleeping habits because that right there is 1/2 the problem. I always sleep on my right side and it is my right side that always hurts. I also have found that if I strengthen my stomach muscles my back hurts less so I need to work on that more. She did help my son though. He was maybe 9 months old and ever since birth one of his legs would turn bluish blackish at even small amounts of pressure. Holding him underneath his legs or even when he just sat on the floor would do it. She gave him an adjustment and it hasn't happened since.
