I need ideas! Do you take it before every single meal, as suggested in EFLF, or once a day? What are you favorite ways to take it? Help! I know I need to do it, but I don't know how many more cups of hot oily water I can gag down!!

I use it very generously to sautee veggies, mix it with butter or bacon grease when cooking eggs, throw it in smoothies (kinda chunky sometimes), have mixed it into a smashed avocado and shredded chicken salad. It's amazing in brownies, my personal favorite way to eat it
. Sometimes I just eat it a little at a time off the spoon but sometimes that makes me gag, too.

In my morning cereal (oatmeal, farina, barley, whatever's around) and with honey on toast which is really hard when my CO is liquid.
I've been known to mix it with honey and just take spoonfuls here and there. I don't particularly like it plain or in hot water. Someone here mentioned to put it in green tea and that it was good but I've not tried that yet.

But I'm not of the EFLF crowd - I probably only get a couple of tablespoons in a day.

I mix with cocoa, sweetener (honey, stevia, etc), sometimes molasses, and dried coconut...put in ice cube trays and refrigerate or freeze.

the dried coconut gives the oil a texture so it's more like you chew it and don't gag it down

Ooh, I forgot about this! I need to make some of this for when the chocolate craving hits.

Thanks!

Yeah, I had my first cube this morning and it was delicious! Thanks again, Feb2003!

I also just ordered my first gallon from Mountain Rose Herbs - at $28/gal it is a much better deal than the $13/pint I've been buying at the HFS!

I have at least a tablespoon in my morning smoothie. Typically at some point in the day, I have some mixed with honey and sunflower seed butter ... that's super yummy. We use it to cook chicken and/or veggies. I'll mix it with honey and raw cacao powder for a mid-afternoon snack too.

MyLittleWonders, every time I try to put it in a smoothie, I end up with chunks...even if I leave out the frozen fruit..the cold milk, kefir, or yogurt is enough to cause the CO to "freeze up"

what am I doing wrong?

I use frozen fruits and just blend it on high ... I still get little "pieces" of co in there, but I don't tend to notice (then again, maybe I'm just used to it so it's not an issue any longer). I don't think there's a way to completely blend it without getting pieces ... Are your chunks very large? If you include the frozen fruit, do the pieces seem smaller? Oh, and I drink it with a straw so it seems to bypass more of my tongue that way.
: But really, it might just be that I've grown used to them in there.

I just made TWO yummy smoothies! One was blueberry-strawberry and the other was mango. I used 1/2 c fruit, 1c raw milk yogurt, 2 pastured egg yolks, 1/4 tsp SteviaPlus, and about 2 Tbs virgin CO.

I had to make two because I used up the berries we had in the first one and it was so yummy that my boys wanted it...well, I won't argue with that since getting CO in them is usually hard so then I made the mango (which I actually liked better!). YUM

I let it run for a while and the CO *did* blend up! Woo hoo! It was totally liquid when I added it and it didn't seize up at all (I added it with the blender off).

maybe CO at the beginning with the liquids and then after it's blended a lot then add the fruit and blend to desired chunkiness??

Thanks, ladies!

I always put about 2 TB in my smoothies. I used to put it in last (because I tend to forget, and that's where it ended up). I have found that when I put it in first, or right after my base (which is usually yogurt, sometimes raw milk), then put everything else in on top, it blends much better. I can still see flecks of CO, but I don't get any chunks. I don't mind the chunks, but no one else likes them.

This method works even with frozen fruit, and I've done it with almost all frozen fruit, and no fresh fruit, so very cold.

Great news! I think I might have dairy issues, but I have almost a quart of yogurt I need to use up anyway, and a smoothie sure sounds good!

What I do is every morning with breakfast.

I put it in the spoon, hold my nose and swallow it and before breathing again take a bite of oatmeal (or whatever) and chew. That leaves very little taste in my mouth.

That sounds terrible! I highly recommend the coconut cubes mentioned above for a tastier option!

I do exactly the same thing! Except I do it with cod liver oil and butter oil (when I actually take them).

I use it in smoothies, too. I used to get chunks, but now I just blend like crazy.

I find it works better like this: (obviously, your ingredients might be different.)

yogurt
honey
CO
egg yolks
banana

Then blend and blend until there are no chunks.

Then add frozen fruit -- usually strawberries or peaches here.
I don't like the chunks either, but I LOVE the taste.
