The way I always do it is to take a 14 inch piece of yarn. Fold it in half, then in half again. Take a crochet hook to pull it through the bottom stitch in your garment. There will be a little loop on one side, pull the threads through that little loop to make a knot. You can trim the ends to whatever length you like.

Hint - do like every other or every two stitches or it will take you forever! Also, make the crochet hook go up, through the bottom of your garment, so that the knot is on the right side.
