im not sure if its a right place to put...
we are moving next month to a rough(i don't think so but ILs think so) place.

i have a silly question.
we have a commando-crawling babe who puts everything in his mouth. the place we are moving in to is a tiny shack. lol so that has no problem since we do not have bunch of stuff.
i was wondering how to manage ds outside jungle(?) crawling?
i have ergo, but he wants to be put down to cruise most of the time. im worried he will eat everything he touches, which is not a big deal unless he starts choking...
i know it sounds like paranoia, but if you have any suggestions id appreciate it.
thanks

We lived in a camp trailer on the construction site of our now home when my youngest was learning to crawl
: .

He's going to get really dirty and put lots of gross things in his mouth and he will be just fine. You will just have let go and stay close. Remember he'll be walking soon.

We are in the construction phase now too and our ds is a 10 m/o cruiser. He does occassionally get a fist full of dirt or dandelions in his mouth, but usually doesn't like the way it tastes and spits it out. We keep right on him as we have drainage ditches and a farm pond on the property. To say nothing of the construction materials, and waste. Good Luck!

When I was little my dad was constructing his house and he told me that I used to eat spiders (daddy long leggs mostly).
uke It never seemed to hurt me but it was kinda gross. My advice is to watch out for poison ivy and be prepared to wash a lot of cloths. Our yard had a lot of orange clay in it and all of our cloths would turn orange after playing in the yard/mud all day.

Have fun

Stones are a big one for us right now. Ds loves stones and rocks, especially little ones that fit in his bitty hand, then pop, toward his mouth. We just watch him like a hawk. He's developed a bear crawl and will use that if he doesn't have long pants on, short sleeves don't really bother him, but we watch out for poison ivy/thistles, etc.

thank you for the inputs!

yup, stones. we went to a river last month, he grabbed little pebbles and wham! to his mouth as quick as he could. fortunately, i got most of it out. and little one that i missed came out from the other end next day. but i hate to tell DS in the future, that his first solid was pebbles.
and last week, i had him in my arms and he was touching leaves from a tree, he was amused by how the branches move as he pulled the leaves. and all of the sudden he shoved the leaves in his mouth!!!! and started vomiting!!!! well he was ok afterwords, but man, was i scared!!!! there goes his second solids in his stomach.
i better start feeding him real food soon....

for sure he will be eating bugs.....

Sounds like he gagged and vomited. Likely he didn't actually manage to swallow any of the leaves. And now he knows they aren't good to eat.

My little guy just started crawling a few weeks ago and with all the animals and tools it is a little hectic. As irresponsible as it sounds, I do let my baby mouth stones, sticks and edible plants while I keep a close eye and am ready to scoop it out, and ya know what, he has stopped putting everything in sight in his mouth! In the garden I give him some peas and berries to keep busy with, and I hose him off several times a day. He also will get off his knees and crawl with his hands and feet if the terrain is rough. We also have some really tough baby pants (carharts work pants for infants LOL) for when he isn't naked. I just keep him close and don't sweat it if he eats a little dirt. I think being able to explore the outdoors as a baby is a wonderful gift.
