How do you "shave" fleece?

Thanks for all replies on the festive fuzzis- now I am wondering what it means to "shave" fleece? It sounds kind of scary! How is this done, and what is the purpose?

I *so* appreciate all of the help into the CDing world!

You can use the same sweater shave that you use for wool - I got mine at Linens and Things. You can carefully use it and get the little pills off and it's so smooth again
