I'm not ready to try bleach, but my diapers stink. I've tried Ecover Oxy stuff, but it didn't help. I've heard you can use Dawn, but what exactly do you do? Does it have to be Dawn? How do you boil them, and for how long?

Thanks!

I think what I do is overkill, but it has worked for us.

I have an old large second hand stock pot that I only use for diapers. Throw the (clean) dipes in with enough water to cover, squirt of dishwashing liquid and boil for 10 minutes or so. Just watch it, mine tends to boil over if I fill it to high. Then wash like normal (no extra detergent) , being sure to rinse sufficiently to get all the suds out.

I would be more careful with PUL or fleece. IMO leece is harder to get stink out of.

If it is just your prefolds that are stinking, boiling should work great. And hand them in the sun after just for good measure.

I just turn my water heater way up, wash the diapers like usual, then rinse, rinse, rinse in hot water until there are no more suds in the water

I have fuzzibunz, bumgenius, and the microterry inserts. Is it the soap that cotributes to the stinkage?

i would suggest boiling the inserts, or scrubbing them with Dawn, IF its detergent build up. if not i suggest disinfecting with either tto and gse or bleach.
