If there's already a thread - please forgive me - I've searched but not had much time. Just direct me!

But how do you take your cocnut oil a la Eat Fat / Lose Fat (as in 20-30 minutes before a meal). I already use it to cook.... but I'm not a fan of the whole drink it in a whole cup nor do I like drinking it in a small cup - but that might be where I"m at with it.

If I"m making myself a cup of hot cocoa with whole milk - can I add it to my cocoa and still recieve the appetite supressing benefits?

Any advise, thought or whatever appreciated.

Thanks -

I put mine in a cup of spicy herbal tea and add a splash of milk. It makes a chai-like drink, it fits right in and tastes yummy.

I don't know why you couldn't add it to cocoa. The goal is to get that big caloric chunk of fat before your meal to take the edge off your appetite and I think it would work just as well in cocoa as in tea.

ii don;t see why you couldnt put it in hot cocoa..
I get a brand of coconut oil that is pressed from FRESH coconuts rather than the dry copra stuff, and it tastes so much better - i can just lick it off the spoon. At room temperature it's a creamy consistency, not like an oil, and i eat it slowly, savoring the taste..
You could even make sweeten it with some stevia (or raw honey), add cocoa powder, and freeze it in chunks, as a kind of chocolate substitute

I sometimes mix it with a small piece of banana, mashed, which I mix with a spoonful of peanut butter

or use my hand held blender for a thick drink; cut up pear or banana, plain yogurt or cottage cheese, a few pieces of frozen rasberries ....

Smoothies! They add a really great taste to them. I just make sure I blend everything else up (rice milk, banana, cocout oil, ect.) before I add the frozen fruit because the fruit will make the oil too hard to mix up good enough if I add everything together first and then blend it up.

I do not understand how people can cook with coconut oil. I tried using a tiny bit once to fry some eggs but did not like the taste of coconut on my eggs.

coconut water! I mix some melted CO in with a bit of coconut water and just gulp it down and it just tastes like a nice coconut drink.

I also tried the coconut bark the other day and could see how some ppl would really like it. I'm not a huge chocolate fan though. But I just did some unsweetened cocoa powder, a packet of stevia and some walnuts, 3T of CO...mix it up and lay it on a thing of tin foil on a plate and put it in the freezer and it does come out quite like a thing of chocolate.

Yeah--I make the chocolate w/stevia, and I love it. It's the only way I've managed to get the recommended 3-4tbsp. a day. I like to add other stuff to it, too. I especially like sesame seeds--makes it taste like a crunch bar!

I love to cook with coconut oil. I love the taste of it in almost anything especially curries and baked goods.

My DH though is like you. He doesn't like the taste of coconut oil. He defiinitely doesn't like to eat eggs made with coconut oil. If I make things for him with coconut oil I make sure it's a dish that has a strong taste that will disguise the coconut oil flavor.

That sounds so good that I'm going to make one right now.

This sounds good. I don't like the oil in hot drinks, it grosses me out, so I've just been taking a shot of it w/ a chaser (if it's liquid) or just eating it off a spoon with a chaser if it's solid.

My all time favorite way to take it is in chocolate fudge

The best way I've found so far....(from Eat Fat Lose Fat):

Pulverize 2 cups crispy almonds in a blender. Add 2 T. raw honey and 3/4 cup coconut oil. Pour the mixture into a bread pan (alternatively, double the recipe and use an 8x8 pan) that is lined with parchment paper (so you can get it out later). Put it in the fridge. Once it hardens, cut into squares and store in the fridge.
