Up till now we've been using the cheap Dappi nylon pull-ons. I throw them in the regular laundry and they get washed with the clothes. We currently use regular Purex detergent, which I know has optical brighteners and other additives in it. That hasn't caused any problems though.

But for the new baby's stash I have purchased some Bummis, Litewraps, Thirsties, and Wonder Wraps covers. This was a big investment so I don't want to ruin them with the wrong detergent. It has been discovered that some of the additives (optical brighteners) in All Free and Clear can ruin the waterproofing on Bummis. So, I'm assuming that means Purex could be in question as well, right?

So, do I was all those covers in hot with the diapers (with the Allen's Naturally detergent)? Or will that mess them up too?

I'm wanting to maybe try the Allen's on our regular laundry but didn't have good luck with that in the past. Clothes weren't coming as clean and still smelled.

Or maybe wash the covers separately in a small load. Or by hand? What's the best option?

I use CPFs on DD and Bummis. Everything goes in the wash together. I also have a front loader and use Charlies Soap. I was using Tide HE before the Charlies tho and everything seemed OK.
I also use a cover a day or two in a row unless pooped on.

I wash my diapers on hot. When the hot cycle is done, I throw in the covers and run a warm wash (all of it- diapers and covers). I use a very minimal amount of sportwash and dawn. I like this system because it's like rinsing/washing the diapers again, and they get really clean, and the covers don't go through the hot wash. My covers are mostly bumpy's, bummis pants, dappi pants, and mother ease. If anything is "retaining odors" (I find pul does that sometimes....) I soak it in the sink with dawn.

I don't know about Litewraps, but I use Bummis SWW and never have a problem with leaking. I wash them on hot with all the other diapers with regular Tide, and they hold up great.

I throw all the diaper laundry in together and do a quick cool rinse and then toss in some "Washing Soda" and sometimes alittle detergent and wash on the cool/cool cycle. After they are done I pul out the covers and air dry those. Every once and awhile I'll throw the covers in the dryer for a few to speed it along- but not often.
