I am in MA, I am currently working on being certified as a Doula with DONA. i want to become a CPM after. I DO NOT want to be a CNM. I started nursing school and it is most CERTAINLY not for me. I cannot imagine having to assist in a hospital. Nor being around that environment all day, just NOT for me.

So how does it work? How are you certified? Do you need malpractice insurance? Is it legal to attend homebirths (my MW is a friend and I vaguely remember her mentioning putting her butt on the line everytime she attends a HB). Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

TIA!
