I am suddenly like Sabin for my new ds on the way..<br><br>

I don't know... weren't the sabine women the ones that were kidnapped and raped in the bible. I don't care for names with "baggage".

I looked it up and it just means the tribe of Sabine...<br><br>
I found a mythical story on the rape of the Sabin women...I don't think it is in the Bible...<br><br>
I dunno now...I didn't know about the whole rape story but I stilll kinda like the name...<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment">

I LOVE the name, my dd's name is SABINA. I just found the story about the women of Sabine<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> . But I still love the name and have never regreted it. Sabine sounds strong to me.

In Germany Sabine is a common girls name so I am having a hard time warming up to it. Kind of the equivalent of the song "A Boy Named Sue"...

I also think of Sabine as a girl's name (one I like, by the way...I don't think the rape of Sabine women story is a big deal; for one thing, it's not all that well known, and, for another, it's just the name of the particular tribe/region; I mean, I don't think naming your kid Troy is horrible because the city of Troy was sacked by the Greeks).<br><br>
How do you pronounce Sabin? The same way as Sabine?

I would pronounce it Say-bin...<br><br>
