...over the course of your diapering career with your child(ren)? I keep thinking about this and for us, it's funny b/c the things I'm using and am quite pleased with now for Ian didn't work before. I also wonder if some diapers I had for him would have worked at all for my older son b/c their body structures (builds) are so different. To be specific, I liked kushies ultras for Ian but I think I would have hated them for Ricky b/c he was much more chubby and hard to fit with even clothing for a while there. Back to Ian, I started with prefolds and hated them, esp when his toddler bm's were averaging 4-5 times per day!! I basically stuck w/hemp fitteds for absorbency and for containing poos. I didn't have success with pocket diapers either. Now, I'm loving both pf's and pocket dipes, and am using fitteds less and less. I guess different diapers work better at different times maybe? Your thoughts?

Oh yes! LOL

I started with DD in flats and pins with pull on covers, and that morphed into flannel fitteds still with the pull on covers, and I made some doublers and wool soakers from the borntolove pattern for nighttime. Then when DS was born I made contours and more fitteds for him but the different size covers for 2 in dipes drove me mad, so I made the hyena leap and bought a bunch of different WAHM AIOs -about 40 diffferent ones, LOL since the adjustability made them all fit both kids. Then DD trained and I needed some money so I sold everything and stuck with CPFs and Kooshies wraps while we got back on our feet, and then I decided hemp prefolds would be better and made more wool soakers, since I prefer wool. Now I'm venturing back into hemp fitteds and the cute side snap wool covers with soakers just for the ease of use, since we are approaching potty training. I still have a huge and varied stash and tend to use different things at different times. Weird I know.

Well back in 1991 I used a diaper service for 3 mos then switched to doing it myself. I was a part time CD user - used DD's at night and on outings. All I used then was PF's, pins, nylon pull on covers or diaperaps (all I could find!)
In 1994 I did my own from the start with my second. Diaperaps, a couple of proraps and PF's. He too was part time.
In 1998 I did DD's! I had sold off all my stash to a gal expecting twins a few yrs prior. Then I started using CD's full time when DS was 1 yr old. Gosh I tried everything - MotherEase, PF's, Baby Moons, Cloud 9's, Kissaluvs and more. Then I got into a Bumkin AIO phase.......
With this one born in May I am back to being a PF mama! I just love them. Can't beat their price, absorbancy, and durability. I use Bummi SWW covers, a few Bumkin covers and a few ProRaps. I also use FB's at night. To me PF's are just the way to go.

BTW - I'm loving those tye-dyed PF's!!!!!! They are awesome! May have to get some........

Mine has changed somewhat, but nothing too drastic.

I started with mostly one size diapers and Fuzzi Bunz at night. I still have some one size diapers, but I switched to more of a two sized system (the medium size is very comparable to the one size diapers I was using), mostly for a more quick dry style.

I also switched from PUL pockets (Fuzzi Bunz, Happy Heiny, Zootkitty) at night to wool covers over hemp fleece/microfleece pocket fitteds. I like the extra breathability and flexibility to use the two "parts" (cover and diaper) independently, especially since the wool covers can be used multiple times before washing. I kept a couple PUL pockets for the diaper bag, though.

I also kept using disposable wipes when I first switched to cloth, but now I use cloth wipes, too. And using cloth has gotten me thinking about and changing my use of other disposable products and my lifestyle in general. But that's probably a whole other thread!

When I used cloth part time with my first two (now 7 and 8), I used Diaperaps covers with these contoured flannel diapers.
When my third was born (he's now almost 30 months, still in diapers), I tried pretty much every single (and I do mean EVERY SINGLE) wahm diaper out there! LOL I went from prefolds, pinned with covers, to folding them in thirds with wraps, to fleece wraps, AIO's, etc etc etc.
I am now diapering my 2 yr old and my 3 month old.
The system I use now is just fitted diapers with pull on nylon covers. It works great and doesn't leak! I also have some Bumkins AIO's for dads or when I go out, etc.

My diapering system has definitely changed.
When I started diapering Harrison I used mostly pre-folds with Bumpy day covers or Bumpy SWW and an Aristocrat soaker at night. I also had some AIOs - Kooshies and Re-u'zm - and quickly discovered they didn't work for me - I don't like AIOs.

THEN I discovered FBs and slowly switched over to using nothing but FB.
After Isabella was born I went back to using the CPFs and covers for her, with an occasional FB. I also started branching out into using fitted diapers more and more, and using wool covers even during the day.
Harrison is back in CPFs about half the time now, and the FB are starting to take a back seat to other things.

I didn't switch to cloth until my first was about 10 mos old. We started with one fuzzi bunz. Liked it well enough so I got 6 more. Decided pocket dipes weren't for us. Tried a bunch of WAHM AIOs and all of them leaked until we discovered Manyducks AIOs. Got a whole stash of those discovered that PUL was causing DDs diaper rash to stay around. Switched to fleece AIOs, but then DD decided she would NOT wear fleece. Settled on wool covers (SugarPeas) and fitteds (mostly Mollytogs and SOS).

With my second she has been in fitteds almost exclusively since birth. I like them. Tried a few AIOs but had leaking problems, though I'm trying them again now since she doesn't seem to be quite as heavy a wetter these days. But mostly, she wears fitteds (homemade, Cloud 9 Softies, firefly, SOS) under wool covers (SugarPeas, fuzbaby) around the house and under pull on covers (Alexis Featherlites with snaps) when out and about. She's a bit on the chubby side so the pull on's make her clothes fit better than wool. lol!

Started off with CPF's and pins and Dappi covers when dd was born.

Dappis wore out, bought Gerber covers. Those worked great for 20 months.

Discovered the Snappi! Got rid of pins.

Babies R Us did not sell larger than Medium covers so bought some Bummies SWW instead and loved them.

Got tired of holding down dd during diaper changes and having to refold the diaper if she managed to get up before I got it on. Sewed a full set of fitted diapers from the prefolds we had. Worked great until she outgrew them. Sold them on ebay for a profit.

Ordered a full set of MotherEase Onesizes with liners. Also a couple snap covers to boot.

Loved the ME OS dipes. Fell in love with snap covers and ordered more. Sold the Bummies and Gerbers on ebay. Sold my infant prefolds to a friend.

Heard about the wonders of fleece. Made my own fleece liners. Ordered 6 Fuzzibunz for nighttime and travel. Loved the fleece. Bought a Stacinator cover and some Liz's cloth hemp fleece topped doublers.

Dd developed a fleece allergy. Gave the liners and doublers to a friend, and sold the FB's and Stacinator.

Tried a wool snap cover as a tester. Loved the function but too lazy to wash it and lanolize it. Sold it to a friend. Bought some of her snap PUL covers.

Got pregnant and thought about buying a dozen fitteds to go with the 2 dozen OS dipes we have now. Balked at the cost. Thought about buying some snap newborn covers. Balked again.

Borrowed back a dozen infant prefolds from my friend. Will buy a new Snappi to go with them. Just bought some used newborn velcro covers at a consignment shop. Looks like I've gone full circle! Well, almost.

I started with diaper service and used Nicky wraps (my sister got them at a garage sale) for my first and these had poop blowouts all the time. Then I bought ME OS dipes which I began washing myself and did that for the next two and half years until dd potty-trained.

I used the ME OS dipes on my second child but he was such a heavy wetter by six months I ended up folding an infant prefold inside each one so I went hyena looking for the perfect dipe and settled on prefolds and pins. Then he was too wild for pins so I bought fitteds.

Now I'm back to prefolds and snappi with hemp fitteds at night.

I am upping to toddler-size prefolds. I just found prefolds are easier to handle out of the washer- simple and no doublers to snap in. I still have a stash of fitteds I should sell- my SOSes and stuff.

I really like it simple when it comes down to it... my lifestyle and house is simple and the many hyena dipes just never fit with who I am. They were pretty and fun, but never left me feeling "right."

I do have some wool covers that could be called "hyena covers"- we use these every day and love them.

I started cding with a sposie mama mindset. I wanted to be able to change pee diapers on a schedule and diaper as cheaply as possible. I made fleece lined, fitted, pocket diapers and used hand me down kooshie wraps. (silly me I just couldn't figure out why it was that dd thighs kept getting chapped)

It wasn't untill I started posting here and using wool that I finally switched gears and started thinking about how best to keep dd dry instead of focusing on keeping my furnature dry.

Some days I love fitted diapers, some days I hate them. I love pretty fabrics and variety but I do find them to be higher maintnence.

well, i started out diapering Kaeden in prefolds, snappi's and wraps as a newborn, then a huge variety of fitteds when he was 6+ months old. after he was a year, I started making my own fitted diapers and AIO's.

for my Ellia, I am still using prefolds and snappi's. when she's a bit bigger, i will make her some fitteds. i really prefer making my own now, as i can customize the size and absorbency for each kid!

Well we haven't been at it very long (2 mos) but it's already changed. We started with a few kissaluvs and bummis covers. After seeing all the AIOs available I thought I'd never use prefolds and certainly not prefolds with pins but I decided to go ahead and buy some and now that's what I'm enjoying using most--a ubcpf with pins and a featherlite pant. I also like the snuggleups and for going out the fitteds or pockets are great but at home its coverless pinned prefolds all the way. I them. Something homespun about seeing ds in a pinned prefold just warms my heart .

Started buying cloth diapering supplies when I was pregnant with my son. DH was out of work for 6 months so I bought 24 prefolds, various wraps off ebay, 5 bumkins AIO small of ebay (not great condition) and 8 no name fitteds. Used that until he was too big for them and switched to Kushies ultra AIO. Darn things fell apart in less than 9 months so switched to toddler prefolds with bummis wraps. Got pregnant with DD, couldn't handle toddler poopies and switched to disposables. After DD was born did disposables with both for 3 more months. Got sick of how much waste I was producing, switched to ME OS dipes. Used them for about 3 months, hated them, not absorpent enough at all. Decided to potty train DS (he's totally trained now). Bought some Fuzzi Bunz for night. Decided I LOVED pocket diapers. Bought more Fuzzi Bunz, one apronstrings and 3 Happy Heinys. DD is now strictly in pocket diapers. I was using prefolds to stuff them but I didn't like how bulky they were so i bought used Joey Bunz off the trading post. So now we are at pocket diapers with Joey Bunz and thing that is where we'll stay! Although I am thinking of getting rid of the happy heinys and getting some more apron strings or fuzzi bunz instead because I don't really like the fit of the happy heinys!

We started w/ a diaper service when Parker was a nb. Used that for about 9 mo then decided to switch to washing my own. We had just got a computer so I didn't know about message boards and WAHM's and all that. All I had to go by was catalogs, and I got The Natural Baby Catalog. I ordered Rainbow contours and Nikki covers and used those for a couple months and liked them alright. Then I discovered message boards and decided I wanted to use fitteds. Eventually Parker wore 100% fitted dipes w/ Alexis Featherlite covers.

Bret was cd'ed w/ me washing the dipes from birth. When he was a nb I used prefolds and Prowraps and a couple fitteds. Then we he outgrew those we moved into fitteds w/ Alexis side snap covers. I eventually switched him to wool covers and have since added a whole load of wool in ones to the mix.
