dd, 9.5 mos, has a 101.3 temp, armpit. i'm gonna use a washcloth to cool her a bit. i know babes can go quite high w/o damage, but how high?

Fevers of 101 to 103 are generally not serious. Higher fevers that come down with supportive measures are also generally fine. The exception of course is if your baby is acting really sick, lethargic, unresponsive, etc.
