So I'm hoping people want to share this! I was thinking a poll was nice and anonymous Since starting on the Total Money Makeover I just wrote down all the debt DP and I have. It's staggering : and we don't even have a mortgage!

So how about you?

Oh, I'm hoping the amounts I put in actually work for people, I just took a stab at the amount people might actually be in debt! I know mortgages and businesses can include significant debt, that's why I made it so high.

Waiting waiting waiting for my settlement, the everything will be fine.

I voted but wanted to add that it is all mortgage except $1100 (so I'm not too worried).

ETA: Our net worth is about $115,000. And, while I voted 100,000-150,000 I forgot that we have another house/mortgage (it's just in DH's name) so really I should have voted 200,001-300,000

I think a better poll would have been, What is your net worth? Just looking at how much debt one has is sort of meaningless without considering the assets side of the balance sheet too

It took a LOT of hard work but we are free and clear now. Mind you we haven't yet purchased a house. That hopefully will be our next and last debt.

I'll let you know honestly that cash only living is not all it's cracked up to be. It's hard to get to that point and even harder to stay there.

Our net worth, is about $6000....not counting out 4 priceless investments on 2 legs!!

The house and car a goo chunk of it....even though our mortgageis under 100k. Actually, when I made our mortgage payment I asked the balance....73,750 We only paid 75k for the house.

The car....we made a bad purchase decision 5 yearsago and we are stll suffering from it! This one purchase has pretty much given us ALL of our financial trouble. ALL of it.

So you're counting all debts in one? Then it's probably $300K or so. If you're not counting the mortgage, (which is really different in my opinion than consumer debt, considering we'd pay more in rent now than we pay on the mortgage) then it's more like $20K in student loans. The credit card (just one now) it's generally at $0, but right now it's at about $1000.

Hmmm... net worth (I presume this means if we were to sell the apartment and cash in everything and pay all debts off), then we'd have $200K profit. Hey, that's a nice thought! Makes me want to do that and take off traveling the country. Someday, someday.

Around $6-7,000 school debt

Maybe $300 credit card debt

Not too bad, but it's more debt than I'd like.

I don't have any debt but I have no net worth either. Does that mean I don't exist?

I voted for $80 - $100k. Have ten years and $70ishk left on the mortgage, $3k on my car, and about $5k or so on credit cards my stupid ex ran up right before he ran off. So I probably fall under $80k, but I rounded up just a bit because I'm still not sure what all I have to deal with of his.

Around $50,000.00 house. over $1,500.00 medical.

If net worth means how much saving's then the answer to that is $0.

May change when we get a house, though... ahhh!

Can you have a negative net worth?

Yup.

I voted, but felt it was really misleading since it is all mortgage debt. If we sold the house we would be debt free!
