Mine lasts only 2 hours. It doesn't matter how long or short nap or nighttime sleep was. He just can't seem to be wakeful for very long. A little longer if we're out, but then fussier. I'm a little worried.
how long can your 8 mo stay awake?

Yikes...sometimes I wish my DD were that way! She's crawling like a mad woman and took her first steps the other day, so in other words, she's always on-the-go, so you'd think she'd be pooped after a couple hours. She almost always goes at least 3 hours, but she can last for 4-5 hours many times. And her naps are nothing more than mere catnaps. I can't get her to nap even if I try to make her, so she definately naps when she needs it, she just obviously doesn't "need" as much as *I* think she does.<br><br>
But FWIW, just like your DS, DD's nighttime sleep doesn't affect her daytime naps either.

The most Evan goes between naps is maybe 3.5 - 4 hours and that's if we're out running errands and he has things to occupy him. He's nosy and rarely sleeps if there are people to ooh and ahh over him <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> At home, though, it's pretty much 2 - 2.5 hours and he's showing signs that he's tired.

2 to 3 hours ----MAYBE four, but that's when things start to get ugly!!!!<br><br>
I also have a cat napper, so i figure part of his frequent napping is due to not getting long enough naps....who knows!

my 7.5 mos old can go all day without taking a nap. i can tell he gets tired, but his older bro who is 19 mos has a tendancy to always try to play with him when he gets sleepy or if we are out running errands it seems like he just doesn't nap...unless he's in the mei-tai...and even then he doesn't sleep very long. just little cat naps here and there.

My DD is 7 months & some days all her napping totals maybe 30 min. - regular napping would be nice but it just isn't happening! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

wow i wish my little guy would get tired and sleep every 2 hours.......my baby is only 6 months but if we are out and about he willl be up all day with maybe a little cat nap in the car. if we are at home he has one big nap and thats about it. i thought they were suppose to nap 3 times a day still at this stage!!
My guy is 7 months and change, and when we're home, is ready for a nap every 2 hours. When we're out and/or something exciting is going on, he can stay up indefinitely <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: I really think he gets bored at home... he likes novelty. But I am glad to know I am not the only one with a babe who gets sleepy so often in the day.
DS has gone 8 months without sleeping...oh wait, it only feels that way sometimes. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: He'll usually go about 5-6 hours during the day then nap for about 30 minutes or so. Some days he'll take a 2 hour nap, but that's rare.
My 10 mo. old has been taking 1-2 naps a day since that age, and is awake from ~8am to 11pm. So maybe 7, 8 hours max? His brother keeps him awake. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:
