just curious cause my 1wk old stays awake up to 4 hours at a stretch and this seems like a lot to me. i know neither of my boys stayed up that long when they were so little. i have a 13mo so i was really counting on my newborn to sleep more and it's been a bit hectic. they're (finally) both asleep now, but WHEW!!<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:

I also had a very awake baby, though mine waited until 2 weeks old to start. Awake for 4 hours at a time no problem. I laughed when the pediatrician asked the standard questions, including asking if he could stay awake for an hour at a time.<br><br>
Welcome to the life of an active baby. I highly recommend getting him used to a sling.

My dd would be awake in the evening anywhere from 4 to 6 hours when she was first born, one time when she was 3 weeks old she was up for 8 hours!!! This was due to being at the FIL's ranch, over stimulation!!! Poor little girl.

I also have a very awake baby...It's a challege to say the least. But, she's very bright and alert and I love watching her watch the world. I wouldn't change it for the world.
