I waited 5 or 6 weeks.... had a little funky tear... wanted it to feel better first. I say if you feel good and up for it- go for it!

If I remember correctly we first tried around 4 wks. It was a little uncomforable, but as long as we went slowly & used lots of lubricant it was fine. When I went in for my 6 wk check the midwife had no problem with it. I had an unmedicated vaginal birth with a small tear (2-3 stitches I think).

That said, I'd at least wait until your bleeding has basically stopped, especially if you had a vaginal delivery. Your body is still recovering! Maybe try satisfying each other in other ways or taking matters into your own hands?

If you're really not sure I'd call your practioner & get their opinion on it.

We got back to our sex life two days later.

We had intercourse after 4 weeks. My midwives' recommendation was 2 weeks after last bleeding. I stopped bleeding after one week, but was too uncomfortable from my tear to try at 3 weeks postpartum.

Four worked for us.

It was about two weeks.. I had two very minor labial tears and it hurt a bit, and they hurt more afterwards, so we haven't done the deed again since.

3 weeks, but i also had a c-sec so i'm sure that makes a difference. If your comfortable i say go for it!

With my dd we tried at about 3 weeks pp

: (bleeding stopped about a week prior). It was an AWFUL experience, and ended pretty much when it began :LOL We ended up trying again around 5 weeks (before my OB said ok, but oh well) it went ok, but still was a little uncomfortable.

Of course, my situation is probably different than yours because I had a really hard 27 hour induced hospital birth, lots of interventions and ended up with a episiotomy after her head got stuck (none of the above interventions were things I wanted, happened because of being induced with pg complications). I think there may have been alot of 'wear and tear' down there iykwim! I think overall though, I healed pretty fast, but I wish I hadn't even bothered trying so early...it REALLY hurt!

It looks like I'm way in the minority here - we waited probably 8 weeks. I thought we were supposed to wait 6 (at my 6 week pp visit, my doc apologized for misleading/not informing me otherwise) - and to be honest, I wasn't even remotely ready prior to 6 weeks. Even after the 'all-clear' from my doc, I was really freaked out by the idea of DTD with a baby in the house - let alone in our bedroom.

i was actually hoping the thread was about those who waited a LONG time so I didn't feel like such a freak.

Some women feel up to it that early. I don't think it would be bad to do it now. I thank YOU know better than anyone when you are ready.

I waited 11 1/2 weeks and then it hurt really bad! It's been almost 5 months and it's *finally* getting to the point where it doesn't hurt.

Me, however, my sex drive is always a bit pokey in returning. I had a major sex drive while pg with DD2 so I thought it would return sooner but NOPE! We waited until about 7 weeks PP and have only had sexual relations 5 or 6 times since. Intercourse only 3 times. I keep telling my DH, good things come to those who wait

I think it was somewhere between 4-6 weeks. I'm sure if I asked dh, he'd remember down to the day. lol. I had 2 pretty bad tears, though. dd came transverse-- sideways. I say as soon as you feel ready, go for it!

I was at 2 weeks. I think you should trust your own body to tell you what's best-- whether it's 2 weeks or six months.

12 days, and again at 15. I hadn't stopped bleeding yet though...

why are you supposed to wait until after that? I always had intercourse with my period.

it's been 6 weeks today since the baby was born, and we still haven't dtd. to tell the truth, after the episiotomy and the 4th degree tear, i'm terrified.
