How long did your infant prefolds last?

My 10 week old is 12 lbs and seems to be outgrowing his already. I thought they would last longer?

I think they fit my ds until about 3 1/2 maybe 4 months if I pinned them. He was probably about 14 lbs. If you can do the bikini twist they seem to fit longer. I continued to use them tri-folded into a wrap and still do (ds is 13 months) and also a doublers in regular or premiums when needed.
Trifolded at 14 months here. (I thought I was the only one! It seems like they're really truly fitting her now that way. I hate to go up a size in covers and PFs, but I thought I'd try Snapping and it's a no go on the teeny dipes!
I only used infant size until about 2 months old. We needed the extra absorbancy. I trifold so at 4 months old we use premiums trifolded in a medium BSWW (they are trimmed though). I think if we had bought some small covers, we would likely still be using the infant size but they don't seem big enough in the medium cover for my exclusively breast fed child.
I trifold mine and lay them in a cover and I don't foresee her outgrowing them anytime soon. I am not good at any other folds, so it's good to know people are still using them that way on their older babies.
They fit to pin till about 15 lbs. After that I trifold them and lay in a wrap. Still do for my 2 year old too.
Okay help me with the trifold. For whatever reason I just don't get it, does that make me stupid
.

Anytime I have tried to trifold it seems so awkward, I feel better getting the diaper on and then adding the cover. I thought before cding that I would only trifold the prefolds but I never have. I have bsww and proraps. Do you put the prefold in the little front area of the bsww? Does it stay in there? I only have small covers at this point, should those work fine? Please advise me!

TIA, Micky

trifolded in a cover til about 7 and 1/2 months - 17.5 lbs

still use them occasionally to put inside fuzzi bunz
heck, I could pin an infant sized prefold on my ds until he was over 30lbs-you have to do a "hip" pin rather than front pin, but they are super trim and "speedo" like LOL-he liked them that way-they fit more like undies and he felt "big". I actually have pics somewhere, if I find them I will post a link.

No!
This is how I trifold them. I use BSWWs and prowraps. I fold the dipe in 3rds, folding the serged edges in, so the dipe is wider, not long and skinny. Does that make sense? The serged edges are not in the front and back. Then I lay them in the cover, and if it's a BSWW, I tuck it under that little fold in the front. Big poopies usually run onto the cover, but never make it out. Little ones will usually just stay on the diaper and I can reuse the cover. I use them like this at night too, I just lay a piece of fleece on top of the diaper so it will keep the moisture off her skin.

My guy is still in them at 7.5 mos. We do the newspaper fold and snappi it. No problems.
nak

I moved to regulars at 3 months (about 14 pounds) with dd3, mainly because of absorbancy though. Premiums were just too bulky at that point. Dd4 is 6 weeks (about 10 lbs) and infant are a little bulky still
I couldn't snappi the infant prefolds much past 15 lbs, but that was 3.5 months for us. I still use my infant prefolds trifolded in our night diapers and trifolded as inserts in pocket diapers

And I hate smilies. I started a thread about how I hate them. I have never used one. Until now. There's no other way to denote the worshipfulness I feel for your Snappi skill. I can't even get a premium-size PF Snappid on my 20 pounder!
