dd is 12 days old now. i wouldn't say that my breasts are totally engorged, but they have that full, uncomfortable feeling to them except for maybe 15 min after i feed the baby. she is eating from one side at a time, about every 3 hrs. wetting and having plenty of bms, and seems to be gaining weight well, so im confident she's getting enough of my milk. at some point, my milk supply should adjust to her demands and that full feeling will dissipate some, right? they just seem to be making so much more milk than she needs at this point, and although its tolerable, it is a tad irritating. lol. is there something else i should be doing to help get my supply regulated, or help with the discomfort? i really really just want to pump all the milk out to get some relief even just for a little while, but im afraid that would just make the situation worse in the long run. expressing some milk would be ok though, correct? i have been checking the kellymom site, but i like to come here and get some first hand advice as well. you all have been very helpful these last couple weeks since dd was born. thanks!

If you feel overly engorged/in pain you could try cabbage leaves on your breasts and change them every 2 hours. When I got really engorged my first two weeks of nursing that is what my lactation consultant recommended. It worked really well and fast. I felt sooooo much better and my boy was still getting everything he needed from me.

Congrats on the new baby and good luck.
