hi. my understanding is that the first determination is done at a regional type of office, and when they're done, they notify the local office. the local office, in turn, has 1-2 weeks to process their part of the decision. not sure if they are just verifying what the regional determination was, or what. so the fact that the local office has your case means you'll know soon. and i don't think it means anything else good or bad. from start to finish, my understanding is that the ssi process is supposed to take 6 months. we were just denied last week
