DS is 3 months old, and looooooooves his bouncy chair and the toy bar. Right now he's been in it for about 20 minutes, still seems happy, and I anticipate he'll be happy staying in it for another 20-30 minutes; in fact, if I were to pick him up right now he would be disappointed. He seems to find it a great vantage point for watching me go about my business and watching the cats do their thing. I know how lucky I am, but is it safe to leave him there for as long as he seems to want? Does it put pressure on a bad part of his back, or anything like that? I do usually wear him for several hours a day as well, and sometimes he also spends time in the stroller.

ETA it's this one, if that makes a difference: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...kstorenow81-20

i think that you seem really attentive to your son's cues, so as long as he seems happy and you are near him, leaving him in it for a short while is fine. of course, hours and hours probably wouldn't be okay, even if he seems happy, but you sound like that isn't an option.
bouncy chairs aren't evil, they can just easily be abused...do what feels good to you and your son. if you are holding him a lot too, then i think its okay.

I know in the state of Utah in a daycare setting they say you have to 'rotate' children every half an hour.

But you do seem really attentive to him and what he likes/hates. As long as your not leaving him in there and taking a nap - all is well

All day? No, just kidding.....I'm not sure how long. I've read no longer than an hour straight, just for the head position. I've always wondered how long they can be in the chair with it vibrating......I was always worried that it was giving them a headache or shaking their brain too much.

I say as long as they're happy! My bouncy chair keeps baby's head in line with it's back, so you don't have the crumpled head thing going on, and the bend at the hip is not much in mine, so I feel totally comfortable with baby napping in the bouncy and all that (mine have on occasion). I don't see much difference between that and a sling. Actually, I think they tend to be more squnched up in a sling.
:

(note: I mean not much difference in positioning... obviously the sling has benefits in that baby is attached to you, but if baby wants to be down, a bouncy is good, positioning-wise, IMO)

Oh believe me, I know how lucky I am. Sometimes I think they switched babies in the hospital. MY baby can't possibly be this easy.
