I am breastfeeding a 12 month old and a 3 year old (OMG he's THREE!!! I still can't believe it!). I have a very sensitive uterus, gave me trouble during both pregnancies (and had a miscarriage in between the two pregnancies). For three years now, I've been contracting every time I nurse. The twinge-ing (sp?) after-birth type feelings...not painful, just a twinge...

Will this ever stop?? Or do I have my uber-sensitive uterus to thank for this?

I also still have painful let downs every single time I nurse, and often between nursing (I'm a veritable cow with my supply!) Although I'm prone to thrush, I know the difference between painful-due-to-thrush letdown and just a "normal" letdown for me. But come on...three YEARS???

So am I just some kind of lactating freak?! Most other women I talk to say that they feel the PP contractions during nursing for only the first week or two after birth...and many never feel letdown at all, those that do don't seem to feel it to the extent that I do...

Anyone else out there like me??

I don't have either the contracting or the harsh let down every time, but I do still experience both. My second is only 10 months now, but even with my son who breastfed till 3 1/2 I still felt uterine contractions sometimes. My let down is only really a problem though when our schedule is off or I'm stressed out.
