We're expecting our second DS in February, and I have never cd'd a newborn before! (With our first, we started cd'ing at 3 months.) So far, my stash is looking something like this:

24 newborn fitteds (kissaluvs 0s, muttaquins, & loveybums)
12 Very Baby newborn AIOs

How many newborn covers will I need?? I will probably use a combination of wool and PUL, and any recommendations for either would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm glad I didn't buy any NB covers, only smalls. DS was 9lb9oz at birth, so nb would have been too small, we expected a big-un LOL!. I bought all PUL covers in case he was allergic to wool...allergies galore around here...which he was. The tp and ebay are decent places to get used stuff. You can also look at www.apconsigmment.com for new and used wool and PUL

I've always had between 6 and 8 covers, and that's always been enough. Maybe eight in newborn and small, because that's when you get the runny breastmilk poops, and those tend to be a bit leaky, so you might go through more covers.

Yeah, I had about 10. I really liked Niji covers and , Country Cuttins. They stand out in my mind.

I also used Kisaluvs and the poo never leaked out of those so I didn't need a lot of covers. I had 5 newborn covers and that was plenty. Congrats!

I would get at least 6 covers.

We're expecting a baby in December and we have 6 nb proraps and 6 small proraps for the baby. We also have 24 Prefitteds from Grow Me a Rainbow, a dozen infant IPFs. I'm not sure if we have enough covers or not, but hopefully it will work out. I'm hoping that by using fitteds we won't get as much poop on the covers.

Thank you all so much! I now have a better idea of what I need - so off to do some shopping!

just wanted to add that the kissaluvs were the best. never had any leaks on my wool with those dipes!

that being said, i went a little crazy and had about 12 covers, plus a ton of LL NB AIOs which fit great the first few weeks. i ended up using only about 5 or 6 of my favorites..so that seemed like a good number to have. mix some wool in there with prowraps, they work great!

I say 6-8 more if possible. For pul I say proraps. I have seen some great wool stuff everywhere lately!!! There is awesome newborn slot at www.hyenacart.com/woolyfactory, www.baby-its-you.com makes awesome covers (I had one for K when he was born!), and www.whimsicalfairies.com makes some real nice wool soakers!
